Question about Computers & Internet

1 Answer

I get a screen durning boot that says, ENTER current password.

When I turn on my computer, after a while, before the log on screen, the screen turns black and asks for the current password. I haven't made a password for the computer so I don't know how the current password screen came up. I tried removing the cmos battery, and that didn't work so I replaced it, and I still got the current password screen. Any ideas?

Yeah, I think it's a BIOS password. It shows up about 10 seconds after I turn the computer on. It's an old computer, the Enter Current Password screen comes up after a 10 second long screen of the words Intel Inside Pentium 4 and then Desktop Boards....

Um, I didn't type anything and the Enter Current password screen went away, now it says,

Intel, and yeah, I turned it off and back on, and then I made it boot from the hard drive, which worked, I got the Windows Xp start up screen, then, it shut off and restarted.

  • Eric May 11, 2010

it just tried to boot from th network, instead of the hard drive. see if you turn it off and back on, if it will do a normal boot.

How to unlock computer passwords

I don't know weather you're doing this for legal purposses, at least I assume you are and as a result I will also assume you have direct access to the computer in question. An easy way to get access to a computer without knowing the users password would be to boot it in safe mode and just use the Administrator account.
1. Shut down the computer
2. Press F8 when windows screen appears
3. From the list, go to the option Microsoft Windows using your keyboard
4. Instead of pressing the Enter key, press the F8 key again to display the Safe Mode boot screen.
5. Choose Safe Mode from the list and press the Enter key.
6. You will be taken to the log in screen that will display the Administrator account icon among your other current account's.

From here you can log into the Admin account without having to enter a password and can fully use the computer.

2)Select Safe mode and then enter
3)When you get the log on screen select administrator and then hit enter.
4)Once ur ont he desktop go to control panel???user account and then select the account that you log on to and click on change password.
5)Enter the new password and then restart the computer

If it is windows vista or windows 7 then the only thing that can be done is a recovery that takes the computer back to its original factory settings .

Hi,

What you can do is turn the computer off and then when you turn the computer on or as soon as you press the power button to turn the computer on start tapping the F8 key repeatedly until you get a black screen that says advance boot menu option .Then used the arrow keys on the keyboard, highlite the option that says safe mode and then hit enter, select the operating system and then when you get the log on screen select administrator .If it takes you to the desktop then go to start?control panel?user accounts11?select ur account and then click on the option that says delete password.Once it is done restart the computer it should take you to the desktop without you putting in the password.

You can also try this :
  1. Click Start and Run
  2. Type "Control Userpasswords2" and press enter.
  3. Uncheck the box for "Users must enter a user name and password to use this computer."
  4. Click Apply and Ok.
