Smoke came from the top of the unit.

My onkya TX 8511 had smoke coming from the top. I unplugged it right away. Any idea why this would happen? Thanks, Judy

Too much heat causing any dust to burn. Or worse yet, damage to any circuitry.

In either case a repair shop is your next move.

Can a dryer heating element smoke if dryer is not running?

Something fried and is shorted. Unplug this unit right away. There are a few sensors on this that could have overheated as they failed causing this smoke and smell, but UNPLUG UNIT!!! Then look at what has fried.

Onkyo TX-Sr603 goes back to standby when press On button - help!

does not sound like the fuse.
its easy to check. unplug unit and remove the cowling / shroud of the unit. the internal fuse will look like a car fuse. the old round style about 1" long and 1/4" round.
sounds like a bigger problem. hope this helps.

I must have hit some buttons on the remote unintentionally - all of a sudden I lost the sound out of the left speakers on my Onkyo TX-8511

Reverse left and right speakers at back of unit
to verify if a speaker/wire problem. Also check
all functions for same problem!

Powered Or Unpowered Subwoofers For Onkyo TX-8511

Greg- Powered subs are better than non-powered subs (also known as passive subs), anyway I see the TX-8511 has no sub pre-out on the back panel, so you need to decide what sub you will use and run from the receivers left and right speakers output into a subwoofers speaker in from speakers then back out to speakers, look at the back of a subwoofer and you will see like 4 sets of speaker hookups 2 in and 2 out, what this does is takes the low end or bass and drops the signal to the subwoofer then takes the mids and highs out to your left and right speakers, unless your regular left and right stereo speakers have large woofers a sub is the way to go.

SMOKE COMING FROM BACK OF FREEZER

Hi jimali1987,

I'm Harvey the Master Plumber.

Your problem is: Smoke is coming from lower rear of unit.

Unplug! Remember where there's smoke there's fire. Get access to compressor and find the burnt wire or whatever it was. I have found burnt animal nest in the past. You never know.

Feel free contact me again!

T.v.

If you have a VCR it is easy. Just plug RCA cables into audio out right and audio out left (on VCR) and other ends into VCR audio in right and left at rear of your receiver. If there are two sets of video audio inputs, push button on front of receiver to agree with where you plugged cables in. (ie. Video 1 and video 2)
