Lcd tv pictures flickers on/off but power light stays on
Was watching lcd tv when a power blip happened due to storm. tv picture now flickers (on and off) even though the power light remains on. does this mean something is wrong with the tv, i.e. power surge damage. what might fix this? thx

If your LCD TV or monitor has stopped working, or is displaying one of the following symptoms, then it's a candidate for some new capacitors
- Flickering screen
- Screen image disappears after several seconds
- Dim screen
- Slow start
- Power LED on, but no picture

I also have the Samsung tv. A similar thing happened to mine. A squirrel cross ontop of a high capacity power transformer on the top of power pole. A loud explosion was heard, and a blip on our tv. From that point onward, the screen blinked off and on. We discovered if we were to turn the "backlight setting" down to minimum position, the picture would stay on. Of course this only temp. fixed problem. The problem is with the power supply board. If you were to take the back off tv, you would see the burn device on this board very easily. The board can be bought from Samsung. If tv is over 3 yrs. old may be better to get new tv. Above all else, spend $200.00 or more and get a top quality surge protector. If you had one it would have prevented this from happening. If not it positively will happen again. Bear in mind also that most home owners policy covers lightning strikes. Most minimuns are 500.00 or so..

hi there, there is a electronic parts failure to your tv set. most of it was a simple 100K ohms or up resistor at the power supply section. do some testing. ty
