Question about Intex Automatic Salt Water System for Above Ground Saltwater Pool

Intex 3-way test strips

I am a new pool owner (Intex 24' X 52") with a saltwater system. I received intex 3-way test strips but no instruction about what to do with the results. What do I do if the Ph is too high? or too low? When I dipped the strip into the pool, the free chlorine showed an olive green color. Is that too much or too little?

I use my 3 way test strips and copper strip when the pool is not running After 15 seconds the readings are using a bit high. After 3 - 4 minutes the readings are perfect.

My intex saltwater system pool is cloudy

The chlorine level maybe too low and it is allowing algae to start growing.
Check the Ph level, it should be around 7.
Check the chlorine level in the pools water, use your chlorine test kit.
Check the salt levels, make sure it is at the correct concentration, too low a salt level and the Intex will not be able to generate enough chlorine.

What is the recommended end-of-season maintenance for the chlorinating pump?

According to the Intex website, the following maintenance is required for this product:

The Intex Saltwater Pool Systems are designed to operate with a minimum amount of maintenance. It is recommended to always turn the pump on prior to turning on the Saltwater Pool System (see Owner's Manual) unless the chlorine generator is part of a combination pool and filter set, to ensure that air pockets are eliminated from the hoses, and that water is flowing through the unit. In addition, the electrolytic cell should be examined and cleaned if necessary. The frequency of cleaning will depend on the local water conditions, pool usage conditions, and length of time the Saltwater Pool System is operated each day. (See Owner's Manual.)

The Intex Saltwater Pool Systems contain several features that minimize maintenance requirements:

1.) An automatic self-cleaning cycle: The Saltwater Pool System automatically undergoes a self-cleaning cycle to maximize the operating length of the electrolytic cell.

2.) Safety diagnostics: the Saltwater Pool System will alert the operator to three conditions that could result in poor operation: Low water flow through the unit, Low Salt level in the pool water, High salt level in the pool water. If any of these conditions exist, the system will sound a buzzer, and flash a digital code on the control panel (Model 8110) or a Red LED will light up. (Model 6110).If the condition is not addressed, the system will automatically shut itself off to prevent damage to the unit.

I sometimes have the same issue with mine.. One thing missing that helps protect the chlorine from burning off in the heavy sun is (Cyanuric Acid)or (CYA) You should be around 30-50ppm.. To bring this level up to 30-50, they sell a conditioner that raises this level.. Don't add too much if your already close to the 30-50ppm.. Other than that, you can continue to run the system as you already do.. Seems like it's maintaining clean and clear... Hope this helps???

I have set up the intex saltwater system. We have run the salt generator for several hours, however the chlorine reads 0. I have added conditioner (thinking this was the issue), however, everything else...

The short answer is add some chlorine. Clean your cell and assure it is operating normally per you owner instruction. Normally, the manufacturer recommends physical cleaning followed by acid wash. Of course use the usual safety precautions when using muratic acid.

Conditioner? Is that Cyanuric Acid? or is this a sequestering agent for removing metal?

Just keep treating with ph down ti'll you reach 7.2-7.8
As for the test strips you only need to dip and pull out
then wait 10 seconds and compare

I am not impressed at all with these salt water chlorinators.Shock the water and keep the filter running next day add a powdered chlorine.filter still running. check the balance with test strip in about four hours. If chlorine level is good start vacuming the algee off the bottom of the pool. Now throw away the salt generator and stay with the chlorine packs every week to two weeks continue to monitor with test strips

My intex saltwater system green light then low salt light

You need to add salt to the water. How much depends on what size pool you have. Your owner's manual will tell you exactly how much to add when the low salt light comes on. On my Intex I would need to add 35 lbs.
