Yea, don't know what is up? I thought it was overheating because the dust cup was filling up and the cyclonic holes were plugged, i took some time and cleaned it spotless, cleaned out the holes, after using it again it started up doing the same thing. Seven eight minutes its shuts itself off, no really bad smell either..About a year old, been doing this for a while. What's up.. seems like everyone I know is having vacum problems...

It's probably protecting itself from destruction from overheating. How's the suction, hot, smells hot? How old is it? Does it run normally otherwise?

The only thing I can think of from your additional comments is when it warms up something expands and it loses continuity of the circuit. Most likely the switch or the breaker.
Another thing to check is if it has a hepa filter it may be clogged and is tripping the circuit. Try this. Remove the hepa filter, turn it on and let it run without vacuuming anything. If it continues to run past 10-12 minutes get a new filter.

It is a Hoover mach 5 runs a few minutes then shuts off no power laglass@sbcglobal.net

This sounds like a thermal limiter issue, usually caused by restricted air flow. Investigate until you find a blockage.

The machine runs for brief periods, then shuts itself off. If it is allowed to sit for several minutes, it runs again, then shuts itself off.

the motor is heating up to much and the cut out switch is kicking in. You need to check the the motor filter, and worse case you may need to new motor..

I turn my dyson on and it runs for 5 min then turns off

The motor may not be getting air flow past it due to clogging or dust build-up. It is probably shutting off because of a thermal overload switch. Good luck!

We have a dyson root cyclone and it shuts off after a about 5 minutes of running. Then after about 10 minutes it will run again.

Your description is typical of a machine that's overheating. This is almost always caused by a blockage, as restricted airflow can't keep the motor cool and the automatic cut-out shuts the machine off. It re-sets itself when it's cooled a bit. Check your operator manual for how to clear blockages, and also check that your filters are clean.

I have a Hoover Wind Tunnel Supreme mach 3.9. It

Check the filter above the dirt tank. If you take out the dirt cup and look where in slides into the machine, there is a filter that is probably dirty. It can be cleaned or replaced

Hoover Mach 4 Overheats and shuts down after a few minutes

You have lost air flow due to blockage. Look for blockage in the throat of the machine where dirt enters from the floor. Do this by removing the base plate or opening throat inspection flap if so equipped. Also detach the hose and drop a coin through to see if there is and obstruction in that area.

Vacuums shuts off during use

My guess is: Either a loose contact on the plug  or Intermittent electricial open  in the electric cord itself. To confirm. Try wiggling the cord and ends while running. If you find the place yo ucan either replace the cord or repair it.

Vacum just shut off when vacuuming

Could be clogged. Check hose check sole plate if its an upright, check handle of hose if its a canister type or check the filter inside the bag/bin area i.e the white or black filter either behind the paper bag or cyclone- if its clogged with dirt then the vacuum may have functioned its thermal cut out - which can take up to 45 minutes until the motor cools down and resets itself.

If it were mine and it was brand new I would bring it back and exchange it. It sounds like the motor is over heating and shutting off automatically. Does not sound good. My advice return it.

Hoover mach 5 only used 3 times

If the filters are ok, and there is no clog in the hose or dirt inlet down by the brushroll, then the motor protector is probably bad.
