Yeah dude, I had the same problem with my DELL. If you install more ram, sometimes (even though it has the slots) the computer can't handle it. Did you try removing the ram you added? It may work. Other thing is that you may have loose cables from the power supply.

Did you recently delete or uninstall a program? The startup folder may be looking for the key in your registry, which may lead to a now-unused file extension.

The "easy" fix (so as not to mess directly with the registry manually), go to www.cnet.com, download "cccleaner", and run it's registry component (scan for issues and fix). Ccleaner is non-spyware, non-ad-ware and is very efficient in catching most "leftovers" in the registry (also is beautiful for cleaning out your cache, temp files, and temp internet with secure file shredder. And (drum roll) it's free :)

Hope this helps!

PS -- IF... by chance, you didn't uninstall anything, and haven't deleted any program recently, you MAY want to run your antivirus software (full scan). I would suggest rebooting in safe mode, downloading the latest definitions, and running a full scan)... good luck! -- Roonie

I have no monitor signal at all.

You most likely have RAM problems.
Try reseating the RAM module/s.
If it still doesn't work, the RAM may be faulty, test the RAM in another computer or take it to your friendly computer shop to test them.

Mac keeps shutting off by itself

Hello, this is called a "hard reboot" and can occur because of faulty RAM memory (have you added extra ram recently?).
It can also come form a dead hard drive, or a dead fan, causing overheat

Reboots

The problem has to be with the ram contacts being dirty. Detach your ram and clean the contact leads with an eraser. It should clear the problem.
have u recently made any changes in your hardware configurations?
if yes, reset it to the previous state(remove any hardware you recently added)
hopes this will help you. feel free to notify.

It actually sounds like you might have a hardware problem. If you're comfortable with opening the computer, remove any recently added hardware. If no hardware was added, then it may be necessary to remove each of the components in the following order and retest the boot process until it functions, and replace the last part removed.

Pressing F8 and/or reading the CDROM that early in the BOOT sequence is not possible, so it's in a hardware check.

Floppy, CDROM, SoundCard, Network Card, <any other cards>, extra RAM, except one or two to be able to boot.

It is also possible that either internally or externally, a cable may be loose. If you are able reseat all the cables, this may make it work. Stuff can come loose and the computer freaks out.

Lastly, if you feel like making sure that component is the problem, start plugging all pieces back in and all may work. This would mean that something was loose.
