Antec fans connected to akasa fan controller, Speed doesn't change

I connect my Antec Tricool fans to the fan controler and the controller detects the speed but when I turn the knob, the fan doesn't change speed. Is this a problem with all Antec fans? Do only Akasa fans work with the Akasa fan controller?

Sounds like a problem with your fan controller. The controller is simply controlling the voltage applied to the fan to adjust the speed. Have you tried a fan without a speed control built in?

I have 2000 impala.. Code 0481 I've replaced the relay even though both fans turn on fine. I also swapped the plugs to see if I would get a fan 1 code and still got 0481. Any ideas?

DTC P0481Cooling Fan Relay 2 Control Circuit .
You swaped what plugs ? Fan's ? That wouldn't change anything ! You need to know how these duel fan set up's work . With this code the fans will still work in low speed , not high !
Output driver modules (ODMs) are used by the PCM to turn on many of the current-driven devices that are needed to control various engine and transaxle functions. Each ODM is capable of controlling up to 7 separate outputs by applying ground to the device which the PCM is commanding ON. Unlike the quad driver modules (QDMs) used in prior model years, ODMs have the capability of diagnosing each output circuit individually. If an improper voltage level has been detected on ODM B output 2, which controls the high speed, relay 2, and series/parallel cooling fan relays, DTC P0481 will set.
Do you know how to do automotive electrical testing ?
Diagnostic Aids
Check for the following conditions:
• Poor connection at PCM -- Inspect harness connectors for the following items:
- Backed out terminals
- Improper mating
- Broken locks
- Improperly formed or damaged terminals
- Poor terminal to wire connections
• Damaged harness -- Inspect the wiring harness for damage.
• If the harness appears to be OK, disconnect the PCM, turn ON the ignition and observe a digital multimeter connected between the Fan Relay 2 driver circuit and ground at the PCM harness connector while moving connectors and wiring harnesses related to the series/parallel fan relay and the high speed fan relay. A change in voltage will indicate the location of the fault.
If the DTC cannot be duplicated and is determined to be intermittent, reviewing the Failure Records can be useful in determining when the DTC was last set. Also refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems.

Remote control will not turn on fan

Do you have the correct type of fan connected to the motherboard ?
For fan control to work you must be using the type of fan that has at least three wires in the connector plug (if it has four wires that is ok too) but if it only has two wires then it will not works since the third wire is the control wire that the motherboard uses to detect fan speed and so on...
Fans that connect through a connector on the power supply will not work either must be conected to motherboard plug on the motherboard itself with at least three wires

hope this info helps

NOTE: if you are sure you are using the correct type of fan then check BIOS power/hardware monitor settings to see if the fan is connected to the correct plug on the motherboard and to verify it is being detected properly and fan speed setting is correct.

Cooling fan for antec power supply pp 303xp does not come on when computer is switched on. Is this a replaceable item or do I have to buy a new power supply?

I THINK I REMEMBER reading that Antec had introduced a feature on some of their psu s where essentially the fan(s) were thermally controlled - if the psu was not working very hard it remained cool and the fan remained off but as the psu got warm with additional load it gradually increased fan speed. Perhaps this the issue you are seeing and nothing is wrong ?
PSU's are generally difficult to open and contain few accessible parts. some you can actually change the fan. I don't know about yours though.

i hate to say this but you may have had a bad fan sent to you or it is not connected into the actual cpu fan port. or the fan is giving false rpm readings to the bios even though the cpu is staying cool.....last thing.... make sure you used thermal paste to install the heatsink/fan ect... otherwise you may run a high risk of burning the cpu.

some manufacturer already attached a variable speed controller when you purchased them, meaning the unit requires this control, but in your case when you purchased it, it does not have any, meaning they sell it to the market as ready to use, so why install additional control?

There might be an installation error during the assembly, so all you have to do is just interchange the wire connected to the control from LOW, MEDIUM and HIGH, it is a trial and error thing but it won't affect or damage your unit, maybe your high speed connection was connected to a low speed control, so just inter-change it. Remove the variable speed control
