Question about ViewSonic VG2230WM LCD Monitor

1 Answer

Blackened out My ViewSonic VG2230wm just "went black" this morning. After several hours, I have isolated the problem to the monitor. The screen is VERY dim, but still seems to be "working," and my system can't "see" anything wrong with it. It's not that old. Is it a repair issue, or have you heard of this? Thanks.

There are almost always plastic clips along with the screws. I'd recommend buying a plastic pry bar. You can google for them online and they cost $1 or so.

Viewsonic vg2230wm - the screen is blank when the computer first boots. I have to turn the monitor power switch on/off several times before the screen turns on, then it is fine.

Check your VGA (Visual Graphic Adapter) connector from your C.P.U (Central Processing Unit) to your monitor if it is intact. If it is intact , replace the VGA cable first. Then if the problem still persist check for the VGA driver in the device manager if it is correctly installed. If the problem persist try and send mail to me on greatengineerid@hotmail.com
Cheers.

VG2230WM (Black, Gray) LCD Monitor: Will not power up, no LED power light...

Most common failures in the LCD monitors are bad capacitors (bulging top/seal or leaking) in the power supply, failed inverter circuits (blown fuse, shorted transistors, shorted/open transformers), bad lamps (poor solder connections or worn out lamps). You will need to open it up and inspect the inside, see example of failed VIEWSONIC monitors to get some ideas what to look for: http://s807.photobucket.com/home/budm/allalbums
Post back what you see inside so we can guide you further and it will help out other people in the future also.

Blank Screen

Common problem in monitors are bad caps in the power supply, that is the first place to check, look for bad caps with bulging top/bottom, see example of failed VIEWSONIC monitors due to bad caps here (worst case will be bad lamps): http://s807.photobucket.com/home/budm/allalbums
Post back what you see so we can help you further.

Vg2230wm monitor Will not power on

probably your power supply. Is it a cord direct from plug in for is there a box between where you plug it in and then a small round end that goes into the monitor. This would be the good news. If it plugs in direct then that means the power sopply is in the monitor itself which means more expensive to fix

Black screen, power button flicks

The monitor should come when the power button is pressed once - period. If not, and it continues to happen when connected to another PC, then the hardware is having trouble powering up the panel / ccds and it should be replaced/serviced according to the terms of the warranty. I suggest to bring it to an authorized service center for proper diagnosis & fix the problem. regards
