Question about Samsung SSC DVR Digital Video Recorder with 80 Gb Removable Hard Drive

1 Answer

Samsung SSCDVR not recognizing Hard drive.

I have a Samsung SSCDVR. I purchased a new Hard drive. In reading some past posts I figured I would have to format the hardrive, I formatted it and still have the same problem. It says it is booting and then says NO HDD. I have changed the jumpers to all three settings. (Master, Slave, Cable select) The green light, lights up and the amber light flashes once when I turn the unit on. I all so here the hard drive start to spin. Does this unit need some kind of software installed on the hard drive or is that built in to the unit.

Your reformatting the hard drive removed everything
it is now not booting from the hard drive because there is no operating system to boot from
you will have to put the os disc into an external cd drive , change the boot priority from hard drive to cd and get the os onto the hard drive

SOURCE: how do you format the hard drive?

I have set up a dozen or so if these units.... so it's fairly simple (if you understand the terminology) - By the way, I just got off the phone with Samsung tech support to confirm. John at GVI /Samsung says the drive cannot exced 160 Gig or it will not recognize it period. Secondly, the drive cannot have any format or partition whatsoever. So use a partition tool and delete the partition and the DVR will initialize it and format the drive to suit it's operating system.
I have had luck repartitioning the drives in a basic FAT 32 and making sure I did NOT set the partition as active..and the DVR configured the drive properly. Good Luck!

How to put songs on The Simpletech Drive?

Just plug the Simpletech in the old computer that has the songs on it. Your computer will recognize the Simpletech drive. You can copy (from your old computer) and paste your songs to the Simpletech drive. Maybe all the songs you want will be in your My Music folder under My Documents. If so, you can just copy the whole My Music folder to the Simpletech.

Once you have the songs on the Simpletech, you can now plug it into the new computer. You can copy an paste from the Simpletech to your My Music Folder on the new computer.

You can also use the drag and drop instead of copy and paste.

My Dell 531S will not boot past the BIOS (Dell logo) screen. At first I thought it was the hard drive, since it wasn't recognizing anything connected to SATA port 1. Since then I have purchased a new...

It seems like you have multiple problems:

1. DVD-ROM drive not accessing the disk

2. unable to "disable" the "floppy" drive in BIOS SETUP

3. not recognizing anything connected to SATA1 port

It's time to take your computer to a qualified technician, for professional trouble-shooting.

Is your DELL computer still under warranty? If so, exercise the warranty.

Or, maybe you should just remove the "new" disk-drive, the RAM, the DVD-drive, and then responsibly "recycle" the old computer, and purchase a brand-new system, repurposing the disk/RAM/DVD components.

500G my book clicks and it is not recognized by my computer

Did you recently drop it? Usually the clicking noise means there is a slight bent metal object that is hitting when it tried to read. There is nothing to fix it. You'll will have to purchase a new one if it still doesn't decided to read

Dell 2400 wont recognize harddrive

I don't know how old the Dell is but I have not seen a BIOS setup routine that did not automatically find and recognize a new hard drive for many years. Perhaps the BIOS is the source of the problem.  Did you try the removed drive in another system? Did you check the CMOS backup battery? If this needs to be replaced, it may not recognize much of anything.
