When heated air is selected to the foot well position only, more air comes out of the defrost than the floor. This occurs on my 2012 Liberty and my grandson's 2011 Liberty. The dealer says that it is working correctly. The manual says a small amount of air should come out of the defrost, not most of the air. This is mystifying since there are two other positions that give heat and defrost at the same time. I find that while driving I become parched. It is so bad that I must shut off the heat which then introduces it's own problems.
If you find that the heater control is a problem then until you get an answer, try running the ac unit as well. It will dehumidify the cab air ( no fogging windscreen ) keep the cab at a reasonable temperature . In most cars it is referred to as climate control . Control is by the heater knob as to how hot you allow the heater to get

These trucks have a problem where moisture builds up in the heater box then freezes. When this freezes and you change your heater settings it breaks the shaft for the blend door. If this is what happened you should be able to look under the dash above and to the right of the gas pedal and you will see two vaccuum accuators one of them you should be able to wiggle around the linkage if it is broke. To fix this you need to remove the entire dash to get the heater box out which involves discharging the AC and draining the coolant because the heater core and evaporator come out. Please rate.

If you mean that the heater "fan" only works sometimes, there is heater blower resistor mounted to the heater motor, (behind the glove box) and if it goes bad, you normaly have high speed only. These are common to go bad, and not expensive.

It is the blower motor resistor. Look under the passanger side dash and locate the fan housing (looks round and black in color. Then locate the resistor it will be in that housing usually withtwo ten millimeter nuts or two simple screws holding it in. unplug the harness to the resistor and remove the resistor. Part store price is approx. 50.00. Note: on aftermarket (not Jeep) resistor sometimes you have to modify the housing a little to get it in. Hope this helps.
