You will have to pull the unit away from the wall and drain it by removing the drain hose before the pump. Make sure you have some rags and a basin and a pail that will make thins a little easier. Soon as you have drained it remove the other hose and inspected them both. If the lines not plugged remove the pump and make sure nothings stuck inside. It should turn freely. If not you will have to replace this part...........Hope this was helpful to you have a good weekend : )

How do I find and check the drain hose on my GE PDW8480 dishwasher?

The drain hose normally goes to the air gap located next to the sink faucet if it doesn't have that make sure the hose is higher in the middle than it is where it drains to the garbage disposal the dirty water is coming from ur sink from when u wash dishes then it goes back to the dishwasher you need to elevate the drain hose

Dishwasher will not drain. We cannot get the screen out to check for clogs. There is a grey plastic box that prevents the screen from coming out.

Hi

Dishwasher not draining issue usually occurs due to kinked drain pipe, clogged drain filter or drain pump. Check the drain hose for any visible clogging, remove if present. If no visible lint is present then remove then turn off the dishwasher and remove the drain hose and check for any visible clogging. If still not visible then the drain filter or drain pump is clogged and you'll need to clean the drain filter and drain pump.
Please note that dishwashers don't drain out the complete water such that heating element doesn't overheat. Hope this helps... Please post back for any further assistance.

I have standing water, what do I do?

you can use a wet dry shop vac and attach it to the end of the drian hose to remove the water.
Disconnect the hose from the garbage disposal and attach the shop vac to it this will remove all the water.
once the water is removed check the drain pump for any obstructions

My GE Profile Dishwasher circa mid 1990s will not completely drain. I took the drain cage off and found pieces of broken glass and old food remnants in it. I used a shop vac to **** it all out....

Sounds like there is. It is common to find objects or small pieces of cloth stuck in the water pump. Remove the water pump and disassemble it and reinstall it. Or purchase a new water pump and replace the old pump.

The dishwasher will not drain out and we have checked the hose and the drain .

Get a wet/dry shop vac and try sucking the water out from inside the machine at the drain hole. you may have an obstruction there.

Disconnect the drainline and hook up a shop vac set up for wet and draw the drain line clear. Sure it isn't the pump?

GE Triton Dishwasher will not drain they water after it's cycle...thoughts?

Peace,
Cut off the power at the breaker for 5 minutes and then turn it on and see if the system resets!
The machine was in your home 3 years , and used for more than that by someone else! I can tell you by the model that its at least 10 years old!
appliances more than 9 years old cost you money to run and fix! Throw it out and do not put good money into bad!

The new ones no matter how inexpensive will wash better and cost you a hell of a lot less to operate. They are so much more energy efficient today that they pay for them selves in a couple of years! With a new machine watch your water and power bill go down!!!
Other wise you need hands on service!
if you got the money do it new!

Bless You!
