Cannot be formatted

My kingston data traveler 2g is stopped working when i plug it , it said "the disk is need to format, format it now ?" when i click yes it said " the disk cannot be formatted " and the storage space is 0 byte how can i fix it ?

You've specified no email.

Also you don't need antivirus software on the device, merely the computer using it. You scan it from a computer. Since the device can't work without a computer and every computer (should) have an antivirus it would be pointless. If you are set on this, I know a good site with alot of portable applications (made for pen drives) including encryption, password protection, etc.

click start control panel administrive tools computer management disk management right click on your drive select properties click tools you should see click check now click start two boxes automatically fix files and scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors place then a tick in both boxes then select check now start or you might tick one box then return after its finished the first repair then return and tick the second box you should not do anything while the chkdsk utility is in progress any input may damage this drive if you still want or need to format
click start click on my computer you should see your drive
right click then select format
another way is to control panel administrive tools computer management disk management right click on your drive select format

I plug my Kingston Data Traveller into my pc and it pops up with this is not formatted so i click format then it just does nothing i've tried doing the regedit and it has not worked i don't know what to do...


just a last chance to recover ur drive insert ur drive to usb and let the system to formate when u reach to the formate ur drive level
then formate ur external drive i.e., ur Kingston Data Traveller and let it formate the after ur formate complete u see that its amazing ur drive gets recover

Click Start
Click Run
Type CMD
Press Enter
Type CHKDSK q: /F <--- where 'q' is the drive-letter assigned by Windows to your Kingston.
After "check-disk" has repaired all the errors, your device can be formatted.

8 gb kingston Data Traveller showing zero disk space


All you need to do is to format the Pen Drive.
Open My computer.
Right Click on Pen drive.
Then click on Format. You will get different options like quick format or such.
Select the option that says complete format.
Once you format the drive you will be able to use it.

I have lock my Kingston from imation lock.


you can try formatting it from the disk manager.
plug in the flash drive and remember what drive letter it gets assigned. right-click 'my computer' and choose manage from the drop-down menu. in the following window, click on disk management (under storage) on the left, then right-click on the flash drive and choose format...

Your pen drive might have got corrupted.
Just format it and the problem will be gone.
