Question about Dryers

1 Answer

My LG washer/dryer started to make a strange noise this morning when I put a few towels in to tumble dry. I put it off immediately, and have just tried again (7.30pm). Still making strange noise, not quite a grinding but a whining, whirring...hard to describe actually, and Im sure I could smell burning. There's nothing in the trouble shooting guide page and there was no error message....I've only had it 6 months so Im incredibly p'd off that this has happened. Any ideas?

How do i tumble dry only on a lg hover wash machine

Washing machines don't have tumble dry. That would be a dryer. The best you can do with a washer is spin cycle.

How do i do drying only

From the document I see, it is only a matter of pressing the "Dry" button. This is from the manual, available at http://www.lg.com/us/appliances/washer-dryer-combos/LG-WM3431HW.jsp and selecting the "Support" tab. On the right, there will be a "Washer/Dryer Combos Manual" link, which will download to your computer. Listed under "Dry" in Section 9 is the following.
• Drying options are easily selected with the Dry button. • For most even drying , make sure all articles in the clothes load are similar in material and thickness. • Do not overload dryer by stuffing too many articles into drum. Items must be able to tumble freely • If you open door and remove load before dryer has finished its cycle, remember to press the Start/Pause button. • By pressing the Dry button, you can select "Normal" - "More" - "Time" - "Off" - "Low Temp" - "Less" • Your dryer can handle a load of up to 9 lbs. (4 kg) dry weight of articles. • When drying cycle is completed, [Cd] (Cool Down) is displayed on the Multi display. • Cool Down is set automatically when the drying cycle is complete. • If clothes are not removed promptly when the drying cycle ends, wrinkles can form. • The Cool Down feature periodically tumbles, rearranges and fluffs the load to avoid wrinkles for up to 4 hours. • The message [Cd] will continue to display until the clothes are removed or the Start/Pause button is pressed
Hope this solves your problem. I highly recommend downloading the users manual, it is a wealth of information and will prove useful in many circumstances.

I have a LG Electric Dryer DLE5932W. When I run it on any of the settings in sensor dry the dryer turns off before the clothes are dry and you have to run it multiple times to get a load dry. Then if you...

this could be operator error please hear me out...... when wash bath towels you also put in wash cloths and hand towels .... there is a sensor in dryer drum shroud in front of lint filter to metal silver strips when the clothes are tumbling they sweep across this sensor telling the dryer heat to stay on and continue to dry.... if th small wash cloth sweeps it first before the bath towel then u get the same results as your describing just like if you were waqshing colors load like cotton tshirt and blue jeans the tshirt is going to dry way faster than blue jeans so if the tshirt sweeps that sensor first the dryer going to shut off we have to sort our clothes to thickness ans same size articles just try it once i bet your clothes are dry when cycle completes

Dryer not heating very hot. need to run two cycles to dry

Hi,

Dryer is not drying properly, In order to resolve try following things.
  • Check the exhaust hood outside the house, does it open and close freely, Clean the lint filter and exhaust duct.
  • Do not overload, 1 wash load = 1 dryer load. Sort heavy items from lightweight items.
  • Large, bulky items like blankets or comforters may require repositioning to ensure even drying.
  • Check the washer to be sure it is draining properly to extract water from the load.
  • Clothes load is too small to tumble properly. Add a few towels.
I hope this will solve your problem.

Good luck and have a nice day.

If you dry a lot, you may need heating coils. Heavy loads such as jeans and towels will put a premature stress on those coils.

washers and dryers dont make smells themselves its a problem with something u might be putting in it. if u tend to add alot more detergent then usual to your towels then they never completely rinse the water out and will have a mildew smell
