Question about Acer AL1716As 17" LCD Monitor

1 Answer

My Acer AL1716As monitor simply does not come on. LED (red or green) is off as well. Should I have any part replaced or perhaps fix it myself? Thanks, Fernando!

Connections and power cord are ok. The monitor is really dead. I've tried a lot but I did not find a service to repair it here in Brazil. If you have some clues, I garantee I am suficiently skilled to do myself. Thanks.

When you push the power switch does anything happpen?

Make sure that the video cable is correctly and securely attached to your computer and make sure that the power cord is securely attaced to the montiors power jack and also plugged into the wall outlet (or power strip). If there is still no response change where the monitor is plugged in -- different wall plug or different plug on power strip. If still nothing test the wall plug (or power strip) with a small lamp to make sure there is power at the outlet.

If there is power then swap out power cords with a known working appliance/computer and try to power the monitor on. Also, use the monitor cord on another appliance/computer and to test if the cord works.

If this doesn't help, then because there is no service that you can safely do at home (unless you are a trained, experienced electronics service tech) you will need to take the monitor to the local Acer Service Center for them to check out.

Before you do anything else, disconnect the monitor from the computer, then try to turn it on and see if you get any life out of it, if you do then there is a problem with your video card or video cable. If you get nothing then you have to start working on the inside of the monitor.

If you will look online you can probably find a copy of the service manual that will help you tremendously.

Given your description the monitor is getting no power from the power supply. So after unplugging the monitor, the first place to check is the fuse in the internal power supply, you will need a multi-meter. If it is blown you will have to order a new one from Acer. If the fuse is good then the problem will lie with one of the micro switches on one of the circuit boards -- it is sending a false reading to the power supply and forcing it to turn off. This is where the service manual will be critical because there are so many differences between monitors I can't tell you where to go next if the fuse is good because there are just too many possibilities.

Have you tried checking with another monitor. Meaning that if the second monitor does not come on then the problem is with your computers mother board. But if the monitor other monitor you check it with comes on then of course it is your monitor.

Specification of part place in the heat sink of the acer al1716As lcd monitor power supply pcb,i cnnot recognized burnt already,is that IC or transistor.it has 6 pin

Hello,

Transistors are with just three pins, so what you are seeing there should be an ic and not a transistor.

It is ics that have numerous pins, transistor have just three legs(pnp) or (npn).

So what you see is an ic.

Take care.

Acer al1713 monitor and the power led flashes form yellw to green

The short answer, replace all of the capacitors. They can be bad without swelling. And there may be one 47mf/16v off to itself, if it fails, monitor will not come on. Also, check the menu or mode setting to make sure your VGA/DVI agrees with the cable if the monitor has both.
