Seagate drive PROBLEM

HI, I come to use this 8 day old drive today and it doesnt work no more. The device cannot be found in windows xp, it does not work on any other usb port or any other computer.  I have tried downloading easyuse drive recovery software but it still does not detect the device. I really need the data, the harddrive powers up but makes a clicking noise for about 1 min then stops with the light on. I really need the data from this drive for coursework. I appreciate any advice you may have although I have already gone into safe mode and computer admin settings and tried to detect the drive that way but it still doesnt show up on my pc. thank you for reading my question and i would be very very gratefull for even the smallest advice. many thanks

Re: seagate drive PROBLEM

I have the same problem. I've been use the HD for about one month and now, after making all my backups and copying them in the HD, it crashed! I believe there is a way to open it and recover the data directly from the SATA port. However, if done incorrectly it will void the warranty. I'll be checking here for any other possible solutions.

Sounds like driver problem to me. Re install the driver by using installation disc, or if you have lost your CD, than use this Driver Update Software to update. I hope this helped.

Operating system not found message after hard drive add-on/upgrade

Hi, if the drive was working you should be able to use auto detection in the bios to detect the settings, but what you have described doesnt sound like the board on the hard drive, i would think the only way to recover the files is send the drive to seagate and they give you a price to retrieve the data.. you can get more info on..
