I just reformatted my dell and i cannot connect to the internet. I have two cd's available for installation and figure i can get my lan connection activated through one of these cd's however i dont know which one. Ones a blue cd marked " Dell tools system software" and the other is " micro windows xp media center verison 2005 with update rollup 2"
Hi there.
Use the Dell tools system software CD to install the LAN (network) drivers, just pop the CD into the drive and install the CD, once it is installed a new window will pop up giving you an option to install drivers and/or utilities, just look for the LAN or network drivers and restart the PC when prompted the LAN drivers will be installed and you will be able to connect to the internet.
Post back if you have anymore problems.
Good luck and thanks for using FixYa!!
Hi again.
Pop the CD in the drive, go to computer, right click on the CD drive and select explore.
On the CD you will find a folder called drivers, explore the CD until you find this folder and when you do you will find the driver for the LAN (network), it will be in an extractable file so it will ask you if you want to unpack it and put it c drive, just select yes or ok and it will extract, when it finishes that it will autorun and you should be able to install the drivers.
Post back if you need more help.
Regards

well thanks for the response, my only problem is that the tools "cd rom" does not offer a "install" feature on it. It gives general information for applications of adobe, aol version 9.0, dell media experience, and dell support etc. no driver connection that i am aware of on this cd rom. if there is a feature regarding this i dont know where to obtain it from.
Well so far so good. Things work well with your advice in the last post up to and including finding the folder marked "LAN" under my drivers folder. See that folder didnt seem to exist. I do have a "drivers" folder but it seems to have all this misc mumbo jumbo ie: Security catalog, system file, oem file, text doc, set up info, but they are all files that my computer at this point cannot read since i only have a few programs to "open" these files with. Nothing under the drivers file was zip file that i could unpack. Any clue to where i should go from here? Thanks again really, for taking your time out to help me with this matter.
