Toner spills everywhere

The black cartridge toner spills toner. when I clean it, it spills again.
I changed the toner cartridge and the photoconductor unit , and this did not solve the problem.
when I remove the photoconductor unit and look at the magnetic roll that should be covered with toner, I notice that the toner spreading is very sparse and uneven, not like the other colors which print ok.
when I print a test patter, the black print is extemely dirty.

If the problem was with the laser scanning unit , I would probably have the same problem with all colors. however, in my case, only the black color is making problems; the others are prining fine when I print a color test pattern.

It sounds ike the roll is not positioned right for an even refill. Can you replace the roller. How is the magnetics controlled? Is its magnetic force fixed or variable? Hope this helped.

The toner cartridge and the photo conductor unit is the problem, basically the problem lies in the scanning unit itself, according to my 5 years experience in laser printers i would suggest you to get the laser scanning unit opened and clean the concave and convex lenses when you will open the unit its a black box and you will see glasses and lenses which need a cleaning with dry lint free cloth. incase you are not comfortable in opening the unit then you have to take help from a repair technician.

This link will give you an idea how it looks and where its located but this is not the exact model of the printer unit this is just for an idea

Why is it putting black blotches of ink all over the paper?

You might have a leaking drum. Or toner might have spilled in the printer during a cartridge change. if you have a HEPA Vacuum with a soft bristle brush lightly vacuum any spilled toner in the printer and try again.

Dell 1700 is giving me an error about the Toner. It also prints out a page telling me to replace the photoconductor kit. I have replaced the photoconductor and the toner but it still has the same error and...

The printer has no way of knnowing that you have changed the Photoconductor Unit, unless you tell it (as there is not chip on the Photoconductor).

The Photconductor reset procedure is as follows.

Dell 1700

1) Leave the power on, insert toner cartridge, and leave door open
2) Press the cancel button and hold till the leds flash
3) Release cancel button and close toner cartridge door

Black on the pages

Sound to me you are having a toner back up, likely a full of plugged waste toner bottle, the easiest way to pick up toner is with a vacuum. Make sure the vacuum you are using has some sort of filter to prevent spreading the toner all over the room.Once you have the spill cleaned up look for the source of the spill, if it is the waste toner bottle, replace it if you have one or dispose of the toner in a plastic bag. once it is clean, then try it again.

Hope this is of some help.

Blue toner is printing on the paper. I have a spill in the print

Be careful with the developer rods which are coverd with toner the rest you can pick using vacume cleaner with soft brushing.
  • remove the cartrides
  • remove photoconductor unit
  • avoiding the developer unit RODS which are 4 in total and are next to each cartridge chute with toner powder on them.they are charged rod and thats why tonner is attracted to them as toner powder is also charged.
  • I did this myself and it works fine.
Just do it when you are relaxed and remove any part which you can remove n then vacume the spilled toner.

You are right about the cartridges having a seal. These toner remanufacturing companies are known as TONER PIRATES, they don't change the drum or cleaning blade, they just dump in toner.

Try wiping the inside with STRETCH AND DUST cloths before you put the new cartridge in.

If that doesn't work, I have to recommend that you get it cleaned, as the spilled toner will blow straight through a regular vacuum.

Toner everywhere

Open the front lid. On the outside of the drum casing you will see and angled tube. That angled tube should connect to the toner cartridge. If it does not, that is where the spill is coming from. It should be cleaned up and reseated.

Xerox phaser 7300 toner cartridge problems

Sometimes on this machine as there is a lot of loose toner around it can cover over the sensors in the machine, what I would advise is to remove all the toner cartridges and check for the copper contacts on both the machine and under the imagining unit (which the toner is placed in). Once you have cleaned that away slowly close the lid and reboot the machine and it should return to normal. Its just toner getting caught up in the sensors. Follow the instructions below, when you remove the unit, lift it over your head to find the copper contacts and clean them, be careful not to spill toner everywhere. Good luck!

Reseating the imaging unit
    Remove the toner cartridge:
  1. Open the top cover.
caution_image88x30.gif The imaging units are sensitive to light. Do not expose the imaging units to light any longer than necessary to remove it and cover it. Failure to follow these instructions may damage the imaging units.
  2. Identify the color of the toner cartridge to be replaced (Cyan, Magenta, Yellow or Black).
  3. Move the orange lever on the toner cartridge to the right so that it unlocks.
  4. Lift on the back side of the toner cartridge first, then guide the cartridge out of the printer.
  5. Set the toner cartridge on paper to avoid any toner spilling.
    Reseat the imaging unit:
  6. Lift the imaging unit straight up out of the printer.
  7. Line up the guide pins with the printer's frame and lower the imaging unit back into the printer.
    Reinstall the toner cartridge:
  8. Install the toner cartridge by guiding the front onto the new imaging unit first then lowering the back.
  9. Move the orange lever on the toner cartridge to the left so it locks.
  10. Clean the LEDs with the supplied wipe.
  11. Close the top cover.

Savin 2527 indicates toner empty

i would suggest make sure the toner is the correct type, make sure when you install the cartridge it is tilted a little so toner will be towards the cap.
change your photoconductor unit.

Faint Black Lines

Hi best way to check is to remove the black photoconductor and you should be able to see the little lines on it also check the the black dev/toner unit for the lines. most likely to be the black photoconductor unit though.

Thanks J
