I have a John Deere JS30 self propelled lawn mower I had issues with it running for 15 minutes and then it stops running. Was low on oil. Added oil over the full line now it runs for 3 min and dies

Wayne, correct your oil level to full line, change your spark plug and try mower. If still acting up after a couple minutes, the Gas cap vent may be plugged, remove or loosen cap to see if mower will run longer and better. If no improvement, the carburetor is dirty and needs cleaned or rebuilt.

John deere riding mower wont turn over unless plug is out

IF you have to remove the spark plug to get the engine to crank, check to see when the motor is in the compression stroke and go just past that point and try again to see if the motor cranks with the spark plug back in. 3 of 4 piston motions are not related to compression. If it does not move then the starter does not have enough torque.

Where is the spark plug?

The spark plug will be located on the engine under a rubber "boot". Remove this boot and you will see the spark plug. The boot is attached to the spark plug wire, you should be able to spot it pretty easily.

Grip the boot and pull it off, it will have a little resistance, but it should come off with no problem.

You will need either a spark plug wrench or a deep socket wrench to remove the spark plug itself.

Only use the tool the loosen it, then use your fingers when you can.

Good Luck!

I've added a link to a post about how to change the spark plug on a lawn tractor, unfortunately, it is not John Deere, but it should be very similar!

I cant find spark plugs

I am writing you the method on how to change sparkplugs, you may now have an idea where spark plug is loacted.

The Ford Expedition uses eight spark plugs to accommodateits eight-cylinder engine. Replacing the spark plugs every 75,000 miles is animportant part of overall vehicle maintenance. 1. Disconnectthe negative (black) battery cable from the battery terminal. Remove thewiring harnesses from the spark plug coils. There will be four on each side ofthe engine block, which you can remove by simply pulling them out of the sparkplug coils. 2. Unscrew the 7mm bolt from each of the spark plug coils usinga socket wrench and 7mm socket. 3. Pull each spark plug coil out of the engine block. Pull themout slowly, being careful not to damage or tear the coils. 4. Use a socket wrench and spark plug socket to unscrew eachspark plug from the engine block. Once you remove these, discard them. 5. Place the new spark plugs into the engine block and tightenthem using the socket wrench and spark plug socket. 6. Slide the spark plug coils back into the engine block. 7. Bolt the spark plug coils back into place using a socketwrench and 7mm socket. 8. Reattachthe wiring harnesses to the spark plug coils. 9 . Connect the negative battery cable to the negative batteryterminal.

The lawnmower wont start it made a loud poping noise and now it wont start it turns so its not locked up i tried checking the fuel system that is working fine i also changed the spark plug

I suggest taking off the little valve covers next to the spark plugs and see if you have bent valve push rods, not uncommon with today's gas. This means that though your crank turns and your pistons move up and down, there is no opening/closing going on to let mixture in or exhaust out. If that is your problem they are easy to replace, but I would get an expert to adjust the new ones once they are in.

I have a lx 255 john deere wont start

You have a defective ignation coil. When the engine gets hot, the winding in the coil opens and the engine stops. After it cools down, it will again make contact and start again. If you don't know where the coil is, follow the wire from the spark plug. The spark plug wire is attached to the coil from the factory. It's easy to replace with a 1/4 inch socket set. Set the magnet to coil gap with a standard business card.

sounds like your carb. is running rich for some reason
be sure to check to be sure your choke is fully off when running
follow your fuel lines they may have stuck the filter somewhere or they may be only using a tank screen filter.
Be sure you have the proper plug installed and gapped .030
