Thermal cutoff resistor blown

Looks like an easy replacement, but what are the specs of this little device? Hard to read but it looks like 0445; 250v; 10a;sf188E;fuse

is this an easy thing to source?

I have a rice cooker, i found out that its resistor malfunctinoned so i put another wire for it to have a direct connection, it can cook the rice provided that you should be watching iit while you are cooking or else it would be overcooked. Is there any bad effect if I would continuously use it?

What I believe to be a capacitor just blew up on my fathers old welder which might be a little older than the pictures shown here on this site. do they still make replacement parts for this?

Capacitors are still used in many electrical devices and motors. If you can read the label on it you should be able to match it to a new one. It may not look the same but it will perform the same. You can purchase them online, or locally at places that repair electric motors. The latter can usually match one up for you if you are unsure.

NO POWER TO TOP DRAW

Not sure which model you have but if top drawer in double drawer has no power then it could mean a few things - either the thermal cutoff sensor has blown or the power board at the base of the dishwasher (under bottom drawer has blown). If you are not getting an F2 error on bottom drawer then more likely it is the thermal sensor. Not an easy job to fix as the whole heater assembly has to be replaced. The cutoff is integrated with the heater. The power board is easy to replace provided you have good handyman skills. ALWAYS TAKE OUT MAINS CABLE before working inside the dishwasher.

Heater motor wll not run on 2003 chevy avanlance

A common problem is that the speed control resistor is burnt out. Usually this resistor is in the air plenum so it is cooled by airflow. Search Google for: "chevy 2003 avalanche heater resistor" and several photos of this will appear. NOTE: the little thing supported by two leads above what looks like a flat plate is a one-shot thermal fuse. If you are adept at electronics you can get a new fuse of the SAME TEMP RATING from Mouser.com or Digikey.com and replace just this thermal fuse IF the rest of the resistor is still good. At Digikey search for THERMAL FUSE and be sure and get same temp rating. These are commonly used in appliances such as hair driers as a safety cutoff. Once the element in them melts, they permanently open and shut down the appliance.

How to test a fuse

Remove the fuse from the fuse holder.
Use a multi-meter aet to low ohms scale.
Place each probe on the ends of the fuse, if the multi-meter shows a low reading then the fuseis OK. If the multi-meter shows a high reading or no reading the the fuse is open circuit or blown.
If the fuse is a glass type and it is burnt on the inside then the fuse is blown.

Dryer runs, no heat, element OK 10.5ohm, Hi limit thermostat .8 ohm, next one is thermal cutoff or operating thermostat, open no meter readings. Part # FSP 3399848 could this be my problem? Thank You

Hello,

Both the Thermal cutoff and the operating t-stat should have ZERO ohms resistiance 0.8 is fine but open on either they are bad

That part number you have listed is what ya would need..even if only the thermal cutoff is open replace both the thermal cutoff and high limit t-stat at the same time

also if the cycling t-stat is open replace it too...if its fairly modenr and hasa digital display the cycling thermostat is a thermister and at room temp that will be about 5.8 thousand ohms

if has timer the cycling t-stat will look like the high limit t-stat and should be closed

If my thermal fuse is blown; can i replace it; or

You will need to check it for continuity. These are very inexpensive and easy to replace. There are videos at www.appliancehelponline.com/servicemanual.html that will walk you thru troubleshooting and replacing these parts.

SE Fuse is a one time link. If it pops it must be replaced. Found them at Goodman thermal fuses for $1.25 ea. Not sure why it failed, unit is 6 yrs old, always used distilled water, never had a problem, it just quit. Circuit seems to be fine, will find out when part arrives.

Replaced elements but does not heat in bowl

Check the thermal cutoff located on the element.  It is designed to blow if the element gets too hot.  If the thermal cutoff is blown, the hi limit thermostat (also located on the element) will also need to be replaced.  It will have two terminals on it and if it is good it will have continuity.  Trace the wires back from the element.  The first one it comes to will be the thermal cutoff, next will be the high limit thermostat.
