Question about JVC GR-D22U Camcorder

Condensation, operation failed, please wait

This has been doing this on our camcorder for a long time.  we have tried letting sit out for days, it is a dry environment, even a hair dryer on cool/warm etc.  blowing air and everything does not solve it.   it won't even let me close the cassette door.  Is there a sensor or something that can be repaired.

I only use the camera once a year and always keep it in a dry area. It is only 3 years old. I have received a report that the main board is faulty and will cost €200 to repair same.

I have been having this problem for 2 years now. I only use the camcorder three times a year. I don't understand why it is doing this. The message that comes up is " PLEASE WAIT CONDENSATION OPERATION PAUSED " Can someone tell me why this is happening and what I need to do to stop the problem.

I have the same problem. My camcorder is seldom used. May 4 times a year. I have used it for shooting once in three years. The message is to please wait, condensation, operation paused. This is frustrating because I havent been able to use my camcorder as I patiently wait. Wait for what?

I found instructions with pictures on fixing this problem online at
The process involves taking the camera apart.
Other forums I have looked at have mentioned waiting the error out or allowing the camera to air out.
I hope this helps.

I bought 3 Sony camcorders at different times, I have used not more than 20 times, and my brother bought another kind of camcorder did the same, but after 3-4 years, automatically quit one by one, even my brother’s camcorder quit within 4 years, this is what I think, the big companies like Sony, Jvc etc., won’t let you use the same unit for a long time, from our case, made us thought, they probably put a timer to control the age of the camcorders. Maybe we have to know how to adjust or change the timer chap.

I am still research about this case. And also I have a lot of documents can not transfer.

When trying to record or replay, I'm getting an error message that says "Please wait - Condensation, Operation Paused." I've waited now over a week & still getting the same error...

Put the camcorder in a warm dry place for a few hours, there is moisture inside the unit, that triggers the humidity sensor and shuts the camera off. If after drying the camcorder for a reasonable time it still will not function you will need to get it repaired.

The camera stoped and on the screen it only shows:please wait iblanks and then condensation, operation pause

I have the same problem with the camera from Day 1. It was back to the manufacturer at least 3 times when is was within the first year. They were clueless and claimed they could not recreate the problem. I have found it occurs primarily just after fully charging the camera. It seems to work again after sitting a day or so as some of the charge burns off.

Lcd screen reads

Either the dew sensor is defective or there is some condensation inside the unit. Try opening up the unit and pointing a hair dryer at it from about 12" away (enough to blow warm air inside the unit, not hot air). Let that run for about 10-15 minutes and try the unit again. If it continues to fail, than the dew sensor needs to be replaced. This repair shoold be done by a repair shop as cameras are not the easiest to work on.

Hi, when I try to operate with my JVC GR-D20E it displays "condensation, operation failed please wait" Thanks

it is might possible that the main or shutter ic has got some moisture...see a jvc service center in this case and do not operate it for few days..

if you still remember this is not due to moisture problem, the firmware may have got corrupted firmware which has happened due to virus insertion during data transfer with pc or mmc.. see jvc authorised service station for this.

Condensation is usually a result of a change in temperature of your camcorder. Like taking it from a warm house and shooting outside in a chilled environment. Or taking the camcorder that was in the car in a cold environment into a warm house. Condesation will make the tape stick to the revolving video head and the camcorder has sensors that know this could be a very bad thing for both the camcarder and your tape. So the camcorder shuts down. The tape also needs to be at the same temperature as the camcorder or temperature differences will create condensation between the tape and the video head.

Eject the tape. Shut off the camcorder and leave it in a room temperature place for a day. Then give it a try.

Please wait -Condensation operation Paused

If the camera becomes damp or cold and brought into a warm atmosphere damp forms in the mechanism which would cause the tape to stick and become damaged or fouled.

leave the camera to warm up for a few hours and the fault should clear.

If not the most common reason is the dew sensor has failed and needs replacing
