Question about Refrigerators

5 Answers

I have a LG LRSC 26925TT sise-by-side. A loud fan noise(clacking sound) is heard when "something" stops running. I checked the plastic fan that cools the coils an it is tight and not close to anything that it can hit. It there another fan blade area that can be checked or another item to look at? Thank you, Patrick

I had the fridge out in the open with the lower back cover off and plugged and unplugged the power to it and observed the fan. The noise did occur when I did this. Why would it only do this when I placed the cover back on, which does not touch the fan area, and not when the cover is off?

    Thanks,

    Patrick

I meant to say that there is no noise with the back off when I unpolug and plug back in the power cord.

    Thanks,

Is there more than one fan in my fridge? I ask this because the fan that cools the compressor coils has a significant amount of room around it and it appears that bending the plastic blades would not have much affect on it. This fan is "clean", no lint, etc.

If there's a second fan, as referred to in an earlier post as a "FF", freezer fan, where is the access to it so I can look at it?

    Thanks,

    Patrick

Thank you for the 3 tech's that posted possible solutions to my problem.
Here's what I did today: removed the freezer inside covers to get to the freezer fan. Fan looks like the one listed on one of the posts as #1330410. Actual LG # is 4681JB1017D. It has th shape ans 3 wires. The end shaft has about 1/2" of play. Other than that it looks okay. The fan blades are plastic and can't be bent for clearance but it doesn't appear to be hitting anything.
I reinstalled it and felt air coming from the lower vent area of the inside panel. The loud clacking sound was heard again later after I closed the fridge doors, etc. I checked the motor for operation and still felt air coming out of the vent holes. I assume this motor was still running because of felling airflow. Could it be hitting something or "?" on it's startup? Is there another fan motor besides the one for the compressor coils on the backside and the freezer motor that needs to be checked too?
    Thank you,
    Patrick

I did not see this fan when I opened up the inside freezer panels but I did see fan #1330410. I replaced the 1330410 fan and it did not fix the "noise". It appears to be a fan blade hitting something when it turns off. Where is the fan located that you describe? The fan that is accessible behind the fridge located behind the back side bottom panel is not hitting anything and does not make noise when I unpluf the fridge. There is something that is running that makes the nosie described when it is shtting off.

    Thanks,

    Patrick

Hi,
you need a new evaporator(freezer) fan motor.

This is the model
I have a LG LRSC - 00082692.jpgmotor,dc freezer

Just take off your inside back freezer panel. Then remove the fan duct, then you can get good access to the fan motor.

Hi,
the crackling noise is coming from the motor guide itself its the motor guide which has gone bad the gears inside the motor guide has gone bad so it needs a replacement, its not the fan blade or its not touching anything on the body so it the motor guide i am sending you the picture too, you can order online and get it shipped to your door step in case you are comfortable in replacing the part

With the cover on all air is directed through the outlet, and as the fan winds down - there is a resistance to the flow of air....
as it slows down - the resistance causes the fins to bend slightly - and it hits on the shroud.
when the panel is off - the blades are free-wheeling with no resistance to bend the blades.
A quick fix is to slightly over-bend the fan blades so there is a greated gap between the shroud and spinning blades.
Also clean the fan blades of any lint & dirt to correct any balance problem.

Thank for using FixYa!!

Sounds like something in the machine in the head that makes it go up and down. either wear or something loose. I would have it checked by a Brothers repair shop

I woke up to a loud buzzing sound from the freezer side, behind the automatic ice maker. Sounds like a fan? Model LRSC 26941SW.

Hi,
This is common. Unplug it or turn off the circuit breaker for a full 5 minutes. Then plug-in and follow instructions. Things will be good

Fan is making a loud noise by the ice maker. Sounds like it is rubing against something. It turns off when you open either door.

the fans normally stop when you open door fan probably has ice or frost in cover area remove food from area and check cover make sure not cracked and pushing in on fan also check and see that fan doesnt have plastic or foil stuck in it if ice dont have to defrost whole system clear food away and use a hair dryer on high directed on fan housing after a few min 8-10 check fan to see if ice or frost is gone
