Re: xbox360 error code

Your description is not very clear for the light sequence and actual error code displayed on screen.

The following web site has a good list of error codes and remedial advice. Check it out and let us know if this helps you pin down the error code.

I was playing splinter cell blacklist on my XBOX 360 S. I saw the four red lights (full ring) on the console's power button. The screen turned blue! I took out the chords and all. Then after about an hour...

What you saw is what is called the Red Ring of Death. Microsoft charges for support in such cases however, most people will just replace the xbox as it is cheaper. You can find out more information on the 4 red rings on the Microsoft website. For the most part, the 4 red rings are based on overheating of your processor. Which means you might need to go and purchase yourself a new xbox. I found this site that might help somewhat, it gives a list of error codes and more information. Hope this will help.

My xbox360 powers up with a green light from the middle and thats it , it don't work or connect to the controllars (not wirelessly or by the usb port) . and the four circling light don't work .please help

switch the xbox off and if you have any hard drive etc connected to the xbox or usb devices disconnect them , then switch it back on while holding the sync button, the one you press to pair the controllers with , hold that for 30 seconds and then release it, see if it will show up on the tv. If it still wont show anything on the screen , check all cables, borrow one that you know is working to try on it. if that doesnt work try another power supply. The best way to test it though is to take it to a friends and unplug there xbox and use their leads and power supply to see if yours boots up. Another check you can do is hold the sync button in and press the eject button , if an error is happening the ring of lights will change , you need to press eject 4 times, without letting go of the sync button, each time you press it the red lights will come on, code is as follows

Four lights =0
three lights = 3
two lights = 2
one light = 1

so if you get 433

then your secondary error code is 033

reply with what your error code is here

I have three red lights and dont know what to do. happened about two hours ago when power was out for a few seconds please help.

turn it on again. this happened to me the other night when i lost power. if you still have 3 red lights, hold the sync button and press the eject button 4 times. a certain number of lights will come on with each press. this is your error code. 4 lights=0, 1=1,2=2,3=3. Google the code and see if there is a fix. call microsoft if its still under warranty.

E74 problem

E74 error code on your Xbox360 basically means a 'general hardware error'. You may also be getting the infamous 'red ring of death' as shown by three red lights around the power button. The most likely cause of this error is over heating.
Microsoft has extended their one year warranty to three years for this problem. I would call Microsoft Xbox support before trying anything else. Their number is (800) 469-9269.
If you are still covered by the warranty, they will send you a box to ship your Xbox360 to them, they will either repair or replace it, and send it back to you, and they will pay for the postage! Downside is that this can take at least three weeks.

My xbox360 has one red light flashing

1 red light usualy means hardware failure. There is another error code you can get of of xbox. While machine is on push the the sync button on console and while sync is pushed in press eject button. The lights on the console will give you youre first digit. Theres 4 in total. Repeat pressing the sync and eject button till you have got the four digits and console is back to the red light.
When getting codes the lights will light up. 1 red light means 1 2 means 2 and so on. 4 red lights means 0. Let us know and ill get back to you.

3 red rings

Over on another forum they listed how to decipher what your Xbox360 is trying to tell you when you get the three rings of light. There is a code that will flash if you hold down the "Synch" button (White button near the memory slot) and press the DVD Eject button. You will notice the quadrant of lights illuminate and each time you press the eject button you will get a different code.

It breaks down to this:

All four lights illuminate = 0
One Light = 1
Two Lights = 2
Three Lights = 3

Turn on your "dead" xbox. Wait for the 3 red lights. Once you get them hold the "Synch" button and the eject button down simultaniously. All four lights flash. (0) Press the eject button again and only one light (1) press again and all four light up (0) press again and two lights (2). Error code is 0102. compare this code to the table below to find out what is wrong with your X360. Is it overheating? Power Cord? Hardware?

The Code I got is 0102 which means the computer does not know the problem as it is not hardware or heating or anything like that. Could be dust, loose solder or static! I use a can of compressed air and my X360 IS BACK!!!!!! I do not know for how long but I played last night for several hours and had not one Hiccup. This after a whole week of the dreaded RINGS OF DEATH!!

One flashing red light on xbox360 ( not red ring)

The specific type of hardware failure can be determined by a "hidden" error code
Turn the xbox 360 on, and wait till the 3 red lights are flashing.
Press and hold the sync up button (the small white one), while holding that button press the eject button.
The LEDs will now blink the first number in the code (as described below).
Release the eject button and press it again.
The LEDs will now blink the second number of the code.
Release the eject button and press it again.
The LEDs will now blink the third number of the code.
Release the eject button and press it again.
The LEDs will now blink the forth number of the code.
Release the eject button and press it again.
The LEDs will go back to the 3 red flashing lights.
You should be able to determine the difference between the 3 flashing lights and the error code lights by the rate in which they flash.
Here is how you interpret the LEDs to get the code number:
All four lights flashing - 0
One light flashing - 1
Two Lights flashing - 2
Three lights flashing - 3

Once you get this code, go to:
To get the reason for the code.

Exbox 360 4 red ligths

4 red light is a problem with your AV cable.
  1. Make sure that the AV cable is correctly connected to the xbox 360
  2. Disconnect the AV cable from the Xbox 360 console, and then reconnect the AV cable to the Xbox 360 console.
  3. If the four flashing red lights continue to flash, try wiping the metal area of the AV pack with a dry cloth. The metal area is the end that plugs into the console. Wipe the metal area thoroughly, and then try the AV Pack again.
  4. If the AV cable is correctly connected but the four red lights are still flashing, substitute a different AV cable if you have one available.

You can also check to see what the error code is yourself if your not sure whats wrong with it.

To do this, you turn your x-box on, press the Connect button on the console itself and hold it in. Now press the DVD eject button to and look at the lights. it should be flashing 1 light, 2 lights, 3 lights, or 4 lights. grab a piece of paper and write down how many lights are showing. While still holding the connect button, press the eject button again. Write down how many lights are showing again. Then press eject again, and write it down. Then do it one more time and write it down. After you do this, then come back on and let me know what error code it is.

    1 Red light = 1
    2 Red lights = 2
    3 Red lights = 3
    4 red lights = 0

so an example of what you might write down would be:

which would be 0001.

If you figure out the error, you can also visit the following website and determine what it is and if you can fix it yourself:
