In my case with constant snow and frost build-up in my bottom drawer GE freezer, it was because the drawer never properly closed. As one user noted, "there is no adjustment." However, there are "catches" at the rear of the drawer glides and in my case one needed adjustment because it was preventing the drawer from remaining closed tightly. SEE PHOTOS. The photos show many items removed, but to make this repair, you only need a butter knife to pop out the black plastic catch mechanisms at the back end of the drawer glides, and only if you can see that the spring is not properly positioned. Sometimes the track can be misalign. Altough you can close it, but when you will touch the side, you can feel it's not airtight. Competely pull the door out, and put it back in should fix this.

Our freezer was very frosty for months when I finally noticed the rubber seal on one side wasn't "sealing" no matter how carefully we closed it. You might want to make sure the seals on your fridge are air tight.

I have a GE GSH25JFTA CC refrigerator and it is not cooling properly. What should I check or replace?

Depending how long the power was off you may have an ice blockage in the freezer. Normal cooling causes the freezer coils to build up frost and snow coating all over the coils. A normal defrost cycle melts that frost/snow off and keeps the coils clear so the fans can move air through the coils.During the power outage the frost may have started to melt wetting the snow. If the refrigerator then came on and re-froze the wet frost/snow into a solid block of ice, the normal defrost cycle would not be able to clear that solid ice out. So it may be blocking the air flow. Remove freezer back panel and see if there is ice back there. If yes--use something like a hair dryer to melt everything out until it is completely clear. Make sure the fans are running also.

Frost free freezer keeps frsoting up. It's a french door refrigerator with the freezer on the bottom. The vent is not blocked. The door has not been opened frequently. The appliance is only 9 months...

Hello,

Sounds like a defective defrost timer
If its a frost free upright freezer and the evaporator is frosting up with a snow like frost you have a defrost problem.. defrost themostate, heaters, or timmmer
Also note that
Dirty condenser coils are not the problem. It's most likely the defrost timer or defrost heater. The heater should come on about 3 times per day to melt the ice on the evaporator coils. If the defrost timer is not turning on the heater or the heater is burnt out, the coils will freeze up......

Hope this helps

Excessive frost buildup in bottom freezer section of Kenmore refr

There are several reasons this can be happening...

1. The seal on the door may have a tear or may not be seating properly...this allows excess warm air into the freezer compartment and in its effort to remove the same ...frost appears.

2. There is something call a thermistor that is cycled on and off as needed to remove excess frost accumulation and or ice buildup on the evaporator (freezer) coils...it is a heat strip which actually defrost the frost/ice. if this is not working frost will accumulate and eventually it will become Ice......now the remarkable thing about Ice accumulation is that you would think everything would remain cold or get colder ..however in this case the opposite occurs...it insulates the coils and thereby increasing the temperature...put a thermometer...one that is calibrated properly...(calibration can be set by placing a thermometer into a glass of ice water...the temp of a glass of ice water..after a few minutes setting will be exactly 32 degrees)..if the temperature of your refrigerator is gradually rising over the period of a week...you will need to call a tech or replace the thermistor and or trouble shoot other problems that can occur such as..

3. The evaporator fan may be going out although they usually make a high pitched whining noise of a whirring noise before they go out...not always and if they are intermittently cycling off then frost would build up...do you always here a fan running when you open the freezer...if so that is good...fan is working...but it may be cycling off at times when no one is aware.
P.S. the odds of your ice maker causing this are very, very slim...in 35 years in the industry ..I have never had an ice maker cause frost due to water spray...it will almost always result solid sheets of Ice..if it evers does cause a spray....which like I said is rare...lottery ticket type rare :-)

This should lead you in the right direction...if you need help in finding a reputable service company in your area let us know..I hope this has been helpful..if so PLEASE rate me....thank you... .......The Fang

My woods upright freezer keeps frosting up at the top with several inches of frost. It is a manual defrost freezer. Any suggestions?

check your door seal, by closing the door on a strip of newspaper all round the seal. this fault is usually air getting inside the freezer, it rises to the top making thick ice or snow.

Freezer has layer of frost on back wall - refrigerator not working

Defrost circuit problem, the snow means that your freezer coil is not being automatically defrosted. This could be a problem with the defrost heaters or defrost timer. Also in the newer models a module
controls this operation. Call for service. Removing ice or snow from the back wall is not the solution. The coil behind the back wall is also frozen and no air is circulating.

look on the back wall of the freezer is there snow? if so you have a defrost component out (timer, limit, or heater) the fresh food compartment gets cool air from the freezer so check for blocked air pathways the build up of frost in the freezer stops air flow so you will be cold on freezer side and warm on ref side

Freezer is producing"snow" and freezer burning everything

AFTER A DEFROST,HAVE A GOOD LOOK AT THE DOOR RUBBER. IT MUST BE 100% SEALED FOR A FREEZER. (SHOULD ALSO HEAR A SLIGHT VACUME WHEN DOOR IS SHUT WHEN UP NTO TEMP).ALSO MAKE SURE MOTOR IS SWITCHING OFF AT +/- 20C (TEMP).IF ALLOWED TO RUN CONTINUOUSLY TEMP WILL PULL DOWN TO CREATE EXCESS FROST.
