Mitch! Thanks for posting. I don't see any "T" shaped pieces. Any chance you have a diagram? Panasonic keeps telling me to put the machine into fax mode, press function, 7, 0, 4, to resolve the problem, and this does not work! I would hugely appreciate any more assistance you can provide! At the front of the unit, you'll see a "T" shaped flag. Remove the cover, 1 screw, two snaps. Reset the flag down (into the cover). When the auger gear starts turning, the flag will go up & reset the drum count. Have fun Wolf,

These machines need to have their drum units replaced every 12000 pages. If you have replaced it then it needs to have the machine reset. Normally the instructions are included in the box with the new drum unit but not many people read these.
Open the front cover (Where you put the cartridge and drum unit in)
Press the Back Button
Display reads "Replace Drum 1. Yes 2. No"
Press the number 1
The display reads "Accepted"
Close the Front Cover
If you have not replaced the drum unit and you reset the drum counter you will see a noticeable degradation of the printouts coming from the machine.
This message would continue to appear if the
drum counter was not reset when you replaced the drum. To reset the
drum counter, follow the instructions listed below.
Open the front cover.
Press the Options key on the control panel. The display will show "REPLACE DRUM - 1.YES 2.NO".
Time to really order a new drum and really replace with a new one.
Resetting the drum unit will not improve print quality. It only resets your drum and allows you to continue to print. You decide when to replace the drum unit not the manufacturer!
1.Remove the drum unit and toner cartridge. Wait 1 or 2 minutes.
2.Replace the drum unit and toner cartridge into printer.
3.The error message "Change Drum Soon/Drum end soon" will continue to appear if the drum counter was not reset when you replace the drum unit.
4.To clear this error message, you need to reset the drum counter as instructed below.
5.Make sure that the machine is turned on.
6.Press Options.
To confirm you are installing a new drum, press 1.
7.When the LCD shows Accepted, close the front cover.
8.Your drum is now reset.
Did you reset the drum counter? When you replace the drum unit with a new one, you need to reset the drum unit counter by completing the following steps:
After approx. 25000 pages you should replace drum unit
This message would appear if the drum unit is near the end of its life. Use the drum unit until you have a print quality problem, then replace the drum unit with a new one.
This message would continue to appear if the drum counter was not reset when you replaced the drum. To reset the drum counter, follow the instructions below:
Open the front cover.
Press the Clear/Back key.
Press 1 to reset.
Close the front cover, pressing firmly on each side until they click into place.
The "replace drum soon" indicater is a warning for you to have a new replacement drum "on-hand". Soon the display will change to "REPLACE DRUM" AT WHICH TIME THE UNIT WILL STOP PRINTING.
When the new drum cartridge is then installed...the REPLACE DRUM indicator will be reset. DO NOT replace the drum before the machine says to.
Try removing the drum unit with the fax machine turned on.After reinstalling the drum check the display for a "new drum?" message.Answer "yes" and the mashine will reset the counter
