The monitor is probably on protection.

To start unplug monitor from power and from computer and test computer with different monitor to find out if it is monitor or computer fault.

If it is computer fault and no video signal , then test:

  • Video cable.
  • Video adapter on PC (sometimes integrated on motherboard)
  • Motherboard.

If it is monitor fault , then the monitor is on protection.

When on protection you keep having a flashing led on front of the monitor , and monitor turning off by itself after a while, that indicates a fault condition.

The flashing light indicates a diagnostic state called protection.
When the Monitor goes on protection there are only two possible causes.

1The internal circuits are jammed because of electrostatic charges accumulating on capacitors, or because of a wrong voltage read by the main chip on your monitor controller board. this started the protection circuit.

2 The protection circuit detected a wrong voltage or a broken contact, identified an internal fault and kicked in , starting the flashing light.

If you are in situation one, then the monitor will reset just unplugging power cord for one or two hours, sometimes even minutes.

If you are in situation 2 , then there is an internal fault.

Common faults that can occurr are a blown capacitor on power board, faulty inverter board, faulty input board, or a fault on LCD Digital Controller board.

Check also the video cable or any external connection cable, if the cable is shorting, or the connector is bad, you can get same flashing state because of the video cable.

Try moving the video cable, and if the cable is not built in, then also try a replacement cable.

If under warranty contact the manufacturer ringing the number on the user manual

If you want to repair at your own expenses, just locate any good qualified repairer.

SOURCE: hi i have a lg l226wty-bf

Open and look at the tops of the capacitors. I bet there are at least 2-3 "bulging" tops. Replace them and the problem WILL be solved;.

Fixing lg w1942tq

Look for capacitor that has a bulge at the top and a rough value of 1000uf, some caps don't always show that tell tale sign, if you are handy with a soldering iron you can try replacing the part.

Hello my flatron l206wtq-bf doesnt work the light of power flash blue and the monitor doesnt open do you have a solution for me thanks

Hello,

Your unit has a power supply that has failed. When the power board starts failing you may get a wavy display, it may be slow to show a picture or you may just get the flashing power button light that you have. The problems are caused by parts called capacitors that have bulged and failed. Here is a link to a repair guide for the LG L226 that uses the same power supply board as your unit.

The dis-assembly information is almost the same to.

I hope this helps, if so please rate my solution.

No power to monitor....all plugs and connections are checked

Hi There and Welcome to Fixya.

For no power/response issues, here are the only things that you can try :
  • Ensure that power cable is still good, or try a known good power cable
  • Try a known good power socket
I'm sure that the above items have already been tried and problem is still evident - if this is the case then I am highly recommending this monitor to be serviced since only certified/trained technicians can have it repaired.

For your convenience, here's the link for LG's support with contact details on the left side of the page :

How to replace LG L196WTQ-BF Computer light bulb

Are you sure that the lamps (4) are bad and not the backlight inverter circuits.
Service manual: http://elektrotanya.com/?q=showresult&megnev=LG%20&megnev2=%20L196WTQ-BF%20&kategoria=monitor&kat2=schematics

Not all the LCD lamps can easily be removed, some of them you have the completely disassemble the screen to get the lamp asemblies out. Need to do voltage checking and caps inspection first, it should have 5vdc for the logic and 16~18vdc for the inverter circuits
If you are going to DIY and have proper tools and know safety precaution then please read on:
Most common failures in the LCD monitors are bad capacitors (bulging top/seal or leaking) in the power supply, blown fuses; poor solder joints, failed inverter circuits (blown fuse, shorted transistors, shorted/open transformers), bad lamps (poor solder connections or worn out lamps). You will need to open it up and inspect the inside, see example of failed monitors to get some ideas what to look for: http://s807.photobucket.com/home/budm/allalbums
Post back what you see inside so we can guide you further and it will help out other people in the future also.

Monitor keeps shutting down into power save mode? Its a LG Flatron L1932TQ-BF. Turn it off then back on it comes on for a breif second then shuts down again?

This happens when the capacitors (680uf/25v & 1000uf/16v) on power supply board are blown.
