Got fuel spark pressure still will not hit a lick

How old is the fuel? If it is more than to months old dump it out and put in fresh fuel. Have you tried a spray of starting fluid into the carb? If it fires up you may need to do this a few times till the old fuel is pulled thorugh the fuel line.

99 astro wont start?

They weren't very good mechanics. Sorry

Basics are to spray a little starting fluid into the intake and try to see if it's fuel related. Do this with an extinguisher handy. If it fires just a time of two, check for plugged fuel filter. Then check for dead fuel pump.

If it didn't hit a lick, pull one spark plug wire off, stick a screw driver in the lead, holding the insulated part of the driver hold it close to the motor and have someone turn it over to see if it has spark. If it does not, the computer is bad or the key switch may be bad.

You can take a paper clip in the computer plug under the dash and turn on the key. On the dash the lights will give you any defect codes. If you you are unsure, ask someone at a local parts house to help you.

Good Luck,

Wont start no spark no ballast resister

If it is a 1984,(like mine) follow the driver's side fender,under hood, to where it meets the fire wall.
just a few inches from the main plug for wiring harness, and you will find the ballast resister.
if a wire is off or lose, the truck will not start ,it may act like it might (only fires one cylinder and no others, what i call,"hit a lick","hit a lick) if wires are ok check resister.

Im a small engine tech im working on a echo pb251 it has spark and getting fuel but will not start, even sprayed carb cleaner in cylinder and it will not fire any ideas

have you checked the muffler and ex port for carbon / blockage?

have you checked the timming key ?

does the unit have enough compression ? by enough i mean 100 psi or above is considered
the btm limit

does the machine fire on 2 stroke mix , if you pour some in plug hole ?

will it fire again if you spray into carb throat with the carb on ?

is the spark still there while under compression pressure ( test using spark tester ) connect between h t lead and spark plug, you should see it spark and jump a 6.00 mm gap to pass a spark load test

if the unit does not fire with mix in plug hole suspect compression ?

if the unit does not fire with mix sprayed into carb throat - suspect a induction problem

ie a air leak either around carb, manifold , or intake boot ( if it has one ), base gasket , crank seals or impluse hose or cracked insulator if it has one

either way i think you will need to pressure & vacuum test crankcases for leaks

you will need to block off intake and ex and put in a air adapter inthe plug hole to connect a pressure or vacuum tester

place piston @ bdc and pressurize to 7 -8 psi check around areas as above of leaks with soapy water , you will see bubbles where a leak is , but the pressure remains constant for at least 2 minutes thats good , the use a vaccuum tester and apply 20 - 30 inches vaccuum to c/cases
vaccuum should hold if not use crc or soapy water to find where uit is

a 2 stroke will exhibit symptoms such as ,revs out far too much ( lean ) overspeed -
very hard to start, or no start , run hot , have low power , stall if trying to idle or seem to raise their idle speed up and down , cannot get reliable hi / lo adjustments set on carb

2 strokes need air tight cases to create vacuum and pressure pulses to pump mixture to cylinder and to operate the carb fuel pump diaphrams

remember this F A C T S

F = Fuel

A = Air

C = Compression

T = Timming

S = Spark

cheers pauly 46
hope it helps

Will not start

check to see if you have spark, and fuel, is plug wet. take air filter off and spray small shot of carb clean in with throttle wide open.. then crank it..does it fire, if so remove your carb and clean it and possibly change diaphram and or needle and seat. If that is not your problem and doesnt fire with carb cleaner spray then check for sure you have spark.......If you have spark and fuell I would check if your flywheel came loose.. it's under the fan on Echo's kinda common if that is yourproblem then if you are lucky you might be able to re-use your flywheel, just depends how muck Key is left on flywheel and use an impact to tighten it but make sure the key in flywheel is in the slot on crank before tightening..............Good Luck!

My ryobi trimmer want hit a lick. The spark plug is firing. But will not hit. I tried a small spray of starter fluid in the carb and still nothing. Could this be the fly wheel is out of time ?

Try removing the air filter...hold throttle open and either squirt or pour about a teaspoon of FRESH fuel mixture into the carb sure that the fuel enters the cylinder through the throat....hold the throttle open and pull start handle and if you have spark it should start and run for a few seconds...if not you may have an electrical problem (weak magneto = weak spark ) ... if it starts and runs your problem may be in the carb (clean or rebuild) DO NOT use starter fluid to do this is too volatile and you may blow the head right off your machine...also check the four screws on the rear cover (the four screws above the gas tank) they may have loosened and are allowing an air leak at the rear of the crankcase. these covers are plastic and have a tendency to warp under the heat generated by the engine. There is a gasket between the cover and the metal crankcase, and if the cover is warped it may be letting air through into the case....can cause a no start situation. do a cursory inspection of your fuel lines , fuel filter, and the primer bulb and check tightness of the carb bolts as cracks here also allow air leaks in the fuel system. If you've been using starting fluid to try and start your engine you might also want to check the head gasket and front crank seal to make sure you haven't blown a hole in them...good luck...;-D

Echo chain saw 16 inch will not start

You need to play about with the timing adjustment.
You can adjust the timing by two different methods.
The first is to adjust the space on the spark plug.
The other is to adjust the gap between the contact, and the coil/magneto.
There ya go, FixedYa !))
Don't forget to rate, thanks.
