HI, I just bought in Ebay a Tomtom Go 710 GPS Receiver which should have european map on it, I could find out so I remevoce the SD car to check which map was on there and it said GB. But when I put back the card the satnav will not switch on again, after reading some of the comment on this website, I have press the rest button and is now back and running however the european maps are not there. I call te seller who said there were definitely there and might have lost them when I did the reset as I did not remove the SD card when resetting the satnav. Can this be possible? how to get the maps back and do you think I have been sold a faultly satnav? Had numerous tomtom and never had any problem with them (apart that they have been stolen:-) ) Thanks in advance for your help

Maps don't disappear with reset. Either the seller didn't know what he had sold or the default map had changed. Check in the map list that Europe is included. You may also check in the internet with the map code that the card included the right maps.

HI, Bought tomtom go 710 from a charity sight on
It may be likely that the "registration" matter is related to the map ... and not the GPS device ... that one can register (as the owner) when the device is purchased new ... to get and load the latest map.
If this assumption is correct, your device would start up but not even get to the "driving screen" ... because there's no (valid) map.
You can first try to register the GPS device (on tomtom.com) against your name, etc., and opt to purchase a map (of your choice). With this purchase, you will download the map (software and data), and an activation code to validate the map. After that you should be able to use the GPS device (for that purchased map).

Hi, i've recently bought a Maps of Western Europe on SD Card (2008) on ebay. I've email'd tomtom for an activation code but they do not reply, anyone got any suggestions?
The card is activated to the unit it was originally purchased for.
The card can not be used in another device . They are locked to the device code

yes, the tomtom 710 needs the sd card which has the maps on it. if you just bought it and didnt get one with it, i suggest you take it back, because the cost of the card often out weights the value of the gps.

if you want to buy a sd card for it, you can get one HERE on the tomtom site or you might want to try ebay.com which sometimes they have them...i just checked ebay for you and currently there are none listed.

My tomtomgo 710 SD card has been corrupted and I do not have a backup. I get no sense from local (Australian) service Cos. How can I get a new SD card with the application loaded?
Dicky smith stires sell TOMTOM and should be able to direct you to gettiong the maps reset on the card. The uniques ID is essential but if you still have proof of purchase you may get out of having to buy a new licence. Lost of peoplke have bought GPS off Ebay and then claimed faulty card and approached TOMTOM for replacement maps. They have wised up to the scammers now and want proof of purchase or else you pay again. But see what DSE says about the matter

I lost the dock that connects to the computer
Your only option is to purchase another Home dock for your TomTom GO 510. The 510, 710, and 910 all use the same dock. The cheapest place to purchase a home dock is ebay. The answer to the second part of your question is no, you cannot purchase a usb cable to connect your TomTom GO 710 to your pc. The TomTom GO series uses a proprietary dock.

GO TO CHANGE PREFERENCES PRESS>>MANAGE MAPS>CLICK ON THAT>CLICK ON SWITCH MAP >CLICK MAP WHICH YOU WONT USE AND WAIT WILL LOAD ITSELF.

You can back up all your current maps and install North American maps for Florida using TomTom Home. You can switch back to European maps when you get back to the UK as well- I used my TomTom Home to manage my GPS and I find it can be very useful in situations like that

Hi, i did the same thing with my tom tom 300 go, i fixed it by borrowing my mothers sd card from her tom tom 710, i put the card into a card reader and copied the hole card to my computer then copied it back onto my sd card out of my tomtom then put in mine and bingo it worked with all the fetchers that her tom tom had and the updated maps it still said it was a 300 but had the 710 stuff try this it worked for me it should work for you.
