Question about Garden

1 Answer

I was mowing my back yard with a MTD yard machine and all of sudden it made a funny noise and stopped. I got off machine and found the left back tire was out several inches with its rod. I found a white broken piece I assume broke off. Can you tell me what went wrong if easy to fix.

The next day after it broke down my grandson pushed the wheel back in place and turned the key and it cranked up. I want to get it repaired but I know it is very expensive for someone to look at it to see what broke off. My grandson thinks it is the back upper housing on the transaxle was the little piece that broke off. I told someone that and he said you would have to replace the whole transaxle and that is a lot of work. So I am not sure what I am going to do. Any suggestions would be a great help. Thank you

Your snap ring clip may have came off causing the wheel to move out on shaft there is a key in the wheel and shaft make sure its there because it will not move without it.

I borrowed my Brothers Tecumseh Yard Machine Push Mower to mow my lawn but the pull cord wont pull. Is there a saftey or something i dont know about ?

There is a little bar up by the handle that you have to pull back toward the handle, this is the dead man lever. When released it will stop the mower by grounding out the ignition coil and braking the engine.

If this is not the problem, then let me know.

I hope this helps.

jack the back of the mower up..please be safe ! and give it the wiggle test, sounds like the e-clip may have fallen off, look at the other side tire to evaluate what can be missing from the left.. e-clip and key stock is at ace hardware !!

Riding mower will barely move

Sounds like it time for a tuneup. Air filter changed, Spark plugs replace and oil changed, plus sharpen the blades while you are at it.

Can not get the back tire off

It probably is welded on - with rust.

Spray some WD-40, or something on the axle (on both sides of the wheel). If it still wont come off, you will probably need a puller.
*If your wheels have 2 holes in them, you can make a puller out of a piece of metal and a couple of bolts.
