Cultivator spinning slow

If the blades are turning slowly while the machine is on tick-over, then it is more than likely a clutch issue. Clutch springs will stretch and occasionally break. With less resistance on the clutch shoes they grip the clutch drum and this in-turn will cause the blades to turn.

Check clutch springs.

I bought a homelite curb runner and need to replace the blade. The problem is I cannot find the blades anywhere. Any ideas?

I found that your electric edger blade is rounded on the ends. I did not find a part number for it. I also found a site that has about 30 or more Homelite edger blades listed, but again, with half of them without pictures, I can't give you the edger blade part number. But, if you have removed the blade and can measure all the dimensions of the blade, then you can match it up with one from this site. They have more blades than other sites I checked. It should not be too hard as each blade listed has the critical dimensions listed with it. I wish you good luck.[keyword]=Edger%20Blade;search[keywordSearchType]=and;search[matchWholeWords]=1;search[keywordFields]=string0:text2:text0:code;search[active]=yes;search[fuzzy_sku]=1

Blade is turning wrong way

The blade drive belt on your MTD edger makes a half twist in its pattern. When the belt was installed, it was twisted the wrong direction. Remove the belt from the blade pulley and reinstall with it twisted the other direction. Before you start the edger again, visually inspect the belt and make sure it is not touching anything other than the pulleys.
Good luck!

Can't get the nut off.. is there a secret to blade removal

Hi these are usually the opposite way to which the blade turns but you may have to use a rattle gun to remove this. If you have a look at the thread you should be able to determine which way it comes off. Just remember to fix the blade so it wont turn and take your fingers off.

Trouble un-screwing edger blade bolt

It may have left handed threads and needs to be turned clockwise to unscrew. As for sharpening an edger won't cut any differently. That short blade, traveling that fast and rubbing against concrete is going to do it's job, sharpened or not.

I changed the blade on my Toro Edger attachment but the left handed thread on the nut doesn't get tight. Is it supposed to or is it some special design that doesn't allow it to be overtightened? Does the...

the hump side of the washer goes toward the nut so when you tighten the blade it pushes the washer against the blade and allows the blade to stay tight as the washer flattens some
if it still doesnt tighten and you dont need much to get it to tighten then put another regular washer between that washer and nut or you may need a new beveled washer

hopefully this will help you some

Take a pair of vise grips and clamp the blade to a 2X4 for more leverage. Some old edgers had a left hand thread.
