Question about Audio Players & Recorders

I have a 1000w amp for my disco, some times when i go to gigs , only one side of the amp works, so i have to connect a speaker cable from one speaker to the other in order to get sound through both speakers, then some times it works ok , i am worried that if this carry`s on it will damage my amp, with me having to switch the amp up full on one side to get enough sound from both speakers, could you tell me what could be causing this

dont think this is the problem cos both speakers work when linked to one side of the amp, it just seems to be that one side of the amp works sometimes and other times it dont

Hi there,

I currently do disco's aswell, and what i do is put the amp in the case so its all pre wired, then you just have to connect the speakers cables and the mixer cables of extenstion lines. so if you was to buy a case and wire it up with extenstions wires, so you dont keep pluging and unpluging the cables from the rear this may help.

Also it may be due to over heating, on new years eve we only got sound from one side of the amp just like you, so what we did was build a fan into the case, and we have never had a problem since.

As for one side not working, i would recommend connecting it to a cross over to see if you can get anything from that.

hope this helps

I think, the connector on the speaker is the one making this since you said it is sometimes working indicated that it could be it. For you question, it will definitely damage your amp and not ly that it will also damage the other speaker since it is getting so much. I suggest that you tune your amp to the normal level then repair the defective speaker. In that way, you can save the other speaker from breaking and also the amp from over power.

does the speaker still work? use a 9 volt battery and do a test thump to see if the horn and woofer still work...when the power amps on these units fail most of the time they shut down.

It is impedance that matters. You can connect 1000w speakers at 1 watt amplifier as long as impedance (Ohms) is correct. You can not frie speakers with low power. It is the same as turning volume down (even to zero?).If it worked for some time then problem is in mixer itself and would have happened anyway. Could be just blown fuse or something. Does it show any "sign of life" ? LEDs etc?

Open your speaker box up most likely the jumper from the inside of the box to the subwoofer itsself is broken free, Usally when they have lights around the sub woofers there seperate leads, bet 10-1 you have loose wires inside the speaker box

You may be over driving the speakers or there may be an impedance mismatch between the amplifier and speakers, especially if they are connected in parallel

I have a 1000w amp but it got burned why??

Hello,

I'm sorry but your problem was a little confusing. Your speakers worked fine, you hooked up a 1000W amp and now you cant hear the sound ?

Then you say "they say because the wires were connected wrong in the amp it burned" does that mean your amp burnt out ?

Please post back and sort these facts out for further assistance.
As of right now im not sure if the problem is with the speakers or the amp itself.

Nitro BMW 1000w amp not working

if AMP turns on and no sound , check the inernal fuses that protect the output from overload , in most cases this fuses act like a cicuit breaker , they set back on again in a few seconds. hope this helps
