I have tried another outlet and checked the fuse, all are good. Can you tell me what board I need to order?

    Thanks

  • banfi2004gps May 15, 2009

I have replaced both boards and still nothing. What's the next step to check out?

  • banfi2004gps May 15, 2009

I checked the power cord and we're getting power to the board. Could the new board be bad? What else can I check? I've disconnected and reconnected all connections.

  • banfi2004gps May 15, 2009

I have also bypassed the overflow switch and nothing happend. I didn't even get a spark when I connected the 2 ends.

  • banfi2004gps May 15, 2009

    Satchi,

I don't have to worry about icing since the dehumidifer has been running for 3 months. I've also received new sensors with the new boards so they're ok. I'm now thinking it's 1 of the relays.

Can you tell me what the relay part number is? I'm unable to locate it. I will then order this part.

Is there anyway of checking out the electric current comming out of the main control board to see if it works. I've spend $80 on parts already and having a repair service look at it is not feasible.

    Thanks

  • banfi2004gps May 16, 2009

Ok. I have checked all connections, nothing is burned and there are no breaks in the solder on either of the boards or other items.

Could it be the Transformer or the Capacitor? The capacitor is 4 pronged and 3 are used.

How does one test to see if both are working properly?

    Thanks once again

Use an amp meter, each part has positive and negative charges. a small reaction will let you know which ones work or if both works.

Hi, i would recommend checking the terminal block. this is the electrical junction box. your ac power cord is soldered or screwed directly into this device. make sure this device is not burned and make sure the power cord is screwed or soldered correctly. any lose or separated parts here will interfere with the current flow and will not allow proper power to be distributed.

You can locate this terminal block by following the power ac cord into the dehumidifier. it will connect directly to this device, check the screws and solder joints carefully for burn marks and lose or cracked joints.

3) Remove the cover panel.
4) Look for ice. If you see any ice blocking parts, let the ice melt and do not use the unit until the room temperature exceeds 65 degrees Fahrenheit (most dehumidifiers are not designed for use in colder spaces and may freeze up). Many people find that, by unplugging the unit and waiting about 30 days into the season, the problem is solved.

5) Remove and test the overflow cutoff switch.

6) Remove the humidistat and check it. Replace it if necessary.

7) If the unit still doesn’t work, call a repairperson—the compressor motor or the relay and overload switch may be the problem.

There is no reset button in dehumidifier units, but if there is no power then two possibilities before considering whole board bad 1)first check out connecting the unit in another power outlet ,may be the power outlet short where its actually connected. 2)there is a small 3amp fuse on the main power suppy board.mostly that fuse blows out before the board going bad.the fuse is actually placed on the board to save the board from blowing out if any minor short circuit occurs.but if the short circuit internally occured is major then its possibily the board. you can get the board at  www.repairclinic.com if the fuse is blown then the cost of fuse is $1.it will be easily available at local electronics shop.
so check out this 2 possibilities before getting the replacement board.

The up and down arror no longer lets me choose a percentage. Is the panel gone bad?

It may have or it may just need to be reset. Either way, what I will tell you to do, will give you a clue, if the control panel needs to be replaced.

Turn the unit OFF & unplug it for 15 minutes. Then plug the unit back in and turn it ON. If the electronics reset, they will have reverted back to the original factory settings. From there you can set the controls as you like. If it didn't reset, you will need to replace the control panel. Since it's Kenmore (house brand for Sears), you can purchase the part on line from Sear Parts Central or schedule an in home repair, if you don't want to do it yourself.

I hope this helps and thanks for choosing FixYa.

Is there a reset button for the power for the machine?

Anbna, there is no reset button for your discontinued model. However, you can try resetting it by doing the following:

Turn the ON/OFF Switch to OFF and unplug the unit for 15 minutes.
Once the time has elapsed, plug the unit in and turn the unit ON.

Hopefully, during that 15 minute timeout, the electronics reset and reverted back to the original factory settings. And the unit will turn ON when you press the ON/OFF Switch.

It's also a good idea to check the outlet it's plugged into. It very well could be an issue with the outlet (no power) or the circuit breaker for that outlet has tripped.

If you continue to have a problem getting it started, contact LG Customer Support 1-800-243-0000.

I hope this helped you to further troubleshoot and solve the problem.

As I tell all the folks who report the same problem you have. There are 5 basic, but solvable reasons for what you described. Please pay particular attention to numbers 1 and 2.

1. The humidity extraction level is set to HIGH. Lower it to 32-35%.

2. Air intake filter is dirty or clogged. Turn unit OFF, & Unplug the
Unit, before removing to inspect & clean it, if necessary. If washed,
allow filter to completely dry before reinstalling. DO NOT operate
the unit without the filter.

3. Obstructed air flow. Maintain a minimum of 12 to 18" of clear air
space around the entire unit.

4. Cooling coils are dirty and need to be cleaned. Use warm water & dish washing liquid to
clean the coils. Rinse and wipe dry. Apply a light coating of WD40 to the coils.

5. Ambient air temperature at floor level is between 40 - 60 degrees.
dehumidifiers do not work well between those temperatures
(Unless, you have a Low Temp Unit). This applies mainly to
where the air temperature at floor level is colder than at shoulder
in basement applications level. Raising the unit up off the floor,
onto a sturdy table, counter top, etc, that can handle the weight
of the unit, plus a full tank of water, will usually resolve this
problem.

If none of the above solves the problem, it may be a case of the compressor needs to be recharged with refrigerant gas or that the humidity condenser sensor has failed. These things usually occur in units that are 5 years old or older. It's rare in a unit younger than that. But, it can happen.

I hope this helped you to troubleshoot and solve the problem. Please let me know. Thanks.

Since I answered your similar question earlier and now have more details on what happened. Shorting out the bucket full switch, more than likely caused more electronic problems in the control board.

However, there is one thing you can try. Turn the Master ON/Off Switch to OFF. Unplug the unit for 15 minutes. After the time has elapsed, plug the unit back in, turn the Master ON/OFF Switch to ON and hopefully, the electronics will have reset themselves during that time out. Before doing any of this, make sure the bucket' float valve is in the DOWN position.

If the above doesn't solve the problem and you decide you want to replace the control panel electronics go the link below, to find the closest Haier Parts Dealer to you.

Actually, the fan shouldn't be working if the water bucket is not installed properly. So, I believe it's more of a case of the electronic controls need to be reset.

To accomplish this, turn the Master ON/OFF Switch to OFF and unplug the unit for 15 minutes.
After the time as elapsed, plug the unit in and turn the Master ON/OFF Switch to ON. The Bucket Full light should not, now be ON. And the unit can function as it should, after you reset the controls for maximum humidity extraction (32 - 35%).

Hope this helped you troubleshoot and solve the problem. Please let me know. Thanks.

Try resetting the bucket, making sure that it is set properly and triggers the safety lever/switch. If that doesn't solve the problem. Turn the Master ON/OFF Switch to OFF, unplug the unit from the wall outlet and wait 12-15 minutes. Plug the unit back in and turn the Master ON/OFF Switch to ON. If the bucket is installed properly, the unit should revert back to the original factory settings.

Hope this helps solve the problem.

Hello Our LG HDL 65EL is not working properly. It turns on, the compressor sounds like it want to go, but the fan doesn't turn on. Is the fuse we can replace or a reset button we can switch? Or...

No, there is no fuse or circuit breaker to reset on your unit. However, there are several things r=than can cause the problem, you're experiencing:

The unit's humidity level may be set to high. Lower it to 35%

The air intake filter may be dirty or clogged. Remove the filter and clean it

The compressor coils may need cleaning.

The air ambient air temperature may be to low. Dehumidifiers don't function well between 40 & 60 degrees F.

The unit may need to reset itself. Turn the Master ON/OFF Switch to OFF and unplug the unit for 12-15 minutes. Plug it back in and turn the Master ON/OFF Switch to ON. Set the humidity level to 35%. Allow the unit to operate in Automatic Timed Mode, rather than continuous mode.

Make sure there is at least a minimum of 12" of clear air space around the entire unit, when in operation.

If none of the above solves the problem, the humidity sensor may have failed. In which case it should be replaced. Or the compressor needs to be recharged with refrigerant.

I hope this helps you troubleshoot and solve the problem.

The Danby Millennium Dehumidifer goes not condense any more. Have unpluged the unit, cleaned all of the filters. Is there a way to reset the unit from the controls?

If you unplugged the heater for 12-15 minutes, after turning OFF the Master On/OFF Switch, the electronics should reset themselves. Also, be sure that you don't have the humidity level set to high. Anything above 60% wont' extract any moisture to speak of. If your unit doesn't have an LED display, set the unit on Minimum.

Hope this helps you. Please let me know. Thanks.

First, the unit may need to be cleaned and after that, unit may need to be reset. Turn the Master ON/OFF Switch to OFF and unplug the unit for 12-15 minutes. Then plug it back in and turn the Master ON/OFF Switch to ON. Set the controls as you normally do. Hopefully, that 12 - 15 minute timeout, allowed the electronics to reset themselves. If this continues to occur frequently, contact an authorized Frigidaire Service Center

Hope this helps you troubleshoot and solve the problem.

Laverne, most of the time repairing a 7 year old dehumidifier is as costly (parts - if you can find them & labor) as buying a new one. As far as the problem you're having is concerned, it sounds like one of the sensors has failed. You may try the following, t see if the unit will reset itself.

Turn the Master ON/OFF Switch to OFF. Unplug the unit and leave it unplugged for 12 - 15 minutes. Plug the unit back in, turn On the Master On/OFF Switch and set the controls as you normally would. Hopefully, that 12 - 15 minute timeout, allowed the electronics to reset themselves and the unit will function as it should.

Hope it works for you.
