Question about RCA CDRW120 2-Disc CD Recorder

Open Question

CDRW120 Error 5 and 6.

My RCA CDRW120 has given me Errors 5 and 6. This has caused for the machine not to record any CD's. It also has made some strange noises while trying to record. Any help on this matter would be greatly apreciated.

Hi there,
Save hours of searching online or wasting money on unnecessary repairs by talking to a 6YA Expert who can help you resolve this issue over the phone in a minute or two.

Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.

Here's a link to this great service

You sure it's recognizing the CDR? And you are using 'consumer audio' cdr? Watch it at all times. If it 'opc fails' after you put a blank in it still shows as a CDR and 0:00 on the display but won't record. It's easy to miss.

SOURCE: RCA #CDRW120 not working

Generally, having something like this repaired would cost more than it would to buy a new one.

Anything can be repaired, but consumer electronics have become so inexpensive that there are very few people who work on them anymore. (people don't get these kinds of things repaired, because it is cheaper to just buy a new one)

It is doubtful that a repair manual exists for your specific device. You may find something general for CD Recorders, but you would also need a wiring diagram for your device, a multitester, and some electronics engineering knowledge.

Probably not what you want to hear, sorry. :(

SOURCE: my rca cdrw120 2 disc cd recorder does not play or

firstly call customer service to see if here are updates on this unit, else, there are two possibilities, the mechanism-which you can easily identify if the cd is spinning at all. the second is that a new optic assembly is required.the first you can do,easily; the second you can research before putting money into it.

" Unrecordable" CD message on RCA-cdrw120

this sounds like the cd ur trying to copy might be copyprotected is this possible ? if not copyprotected is the source cd a plus or a minus cd sometimes this will happen depending on source media . its also possible that the origional cd is slighly damaged meaning the burner cant read it . try testing with a simple project that will help verify if laser has gone outof alignment also try to see if your computer will read the origional disk ok good luck
