Need set-up disc to download for Mac computer of Canon Pixma MG5200 ink jet printer

When you rightclick on the side you want to print, choose print and some times you have to chose printer.

buy a new printer,they are not worth fixing

I have an MP540 and it says..."The PIXMA MP540 runs on five ink cartridges, with a photo black as well as a pigmented black for text printing" so it sounds like pigmented is for text and dye for pics. So maybe your default settings are showing high quality, photo or the paper type is causing the printer to select high quality...just a thought!

Yes, you can install the printer without the disk.

You need to download the installation drivers and software from manufacturer's support website by clicking this link

On the page which opens, select the operating system of your computer (Windows Xp/ Vista..) from the drop-down menu. Then download the required drivers and software.

The list of available drivers will load only after selecting the operating system of the computer.

Canon recommends genuine canon ink jet cartridges. If you bought a remanufactured ink jet cartridge and it did this, I would return it immediately.

But, since you filled it yourself, there's no recourse with the ink company, I don't believe.

Even if you were successful with refilling, they can only be refilled 2 or 3 times at best.

If the Drivers & Downloads tab is not selected, click on it.

Under the Guides and Manuals you can download the Quick Start or Easy Setup guides. When you click on the link it will open (as long as you have Acrobat Reader) and then you can save them to your computer for future use.

On that same page, if you select your operating system from the drop down menu near the top, you will get a list of available software.

You will need the software under Drivers. It ends in exe. Click on the file name. You will then have to accept the EULA. When you do you will get another download window. The best thing to do is to select Save and direct it to your desktop. When the download is complete, close the window.

To install the software:

Make sure the printer has ink and paper. Turn the printer OFF and disconnect the USB cable from the computer.

Run (double-click) the file on your desktop that you downloaded. This will begin the install. When prompted, connect the USB cable to the computer and turn the printer ON. This will continue the software install.

NOTE: Should you get any "Found New Hardware" windows, simply Cancel them out.

That should get you going. Refer to the Easy Setup guide mentioned above for additional info.
