Question about Shop Vac Vacuums

Can't install a bag for my Craftsman 16 gallon shop-vac

Hi
I purchased a second hand Craftsman 60 liter (16 gallon) shop vac. It came with no bag, so I purchased a couple of 16 gallon bags at my local hardware store. The problem is, I can't attach the bags to where the intake hose comes in, because there isn't a way to attach the bag to the intake port. Am I missing something ??
My smaller shop vac, has a piece of pipe, with a sheath on one side, which is permanently installed, but the Craftsman doesn't have that sheath or any kind of connection to attach a clean bag.
The Craftsman is extremely powerful, and I'd like to connect it to my table saw to collect most of the saw-dust that comes from cutting wood. However, I don't want the saw-dust to go directly into the container of the shop-vac, but rather into a clean bag.
Any help would on this matter would be much appreciated.

    Hi
Yes, there is paper pleated round filter that is attached under the lid and motor.

  • R. May 09, 2009

Not sure if it's the exact same as yours, cause my wheels don't come off, and the lid stays put, although I don't drag it around much by pulling the hose. I use it primarily to inhale any saw dust from my Ryobi BT3100 table saw. The shop vac's container is red in color, and on the black lid there are the numbers 314 air watts in yellow (whatever that is) and 200 km/h blower/intake.
Is there any advantage or disadvantage to having a "bagless" shop-vac ?
Thanks for your quick and helpful info.

Are you sure this vacuum uses a bag? Is there a filter on the bottom of the lid?

I have a Craftsman 60 liter vac. I can't figure out where the "Diffuser" attaches.

Well, good news, you don't need a bag! The trash just settles to the bottom of the bucket and you just dump it out.

I own one of these -- it has many little operational anoyances -- like wheels falling off, lid popping off, etc. If you run into these scenarios and want help on fixes, drop me a line.

Would you please rate my response. I think you'll see some icons at the bottom of the post to enter a rating.

thanks...

The advantage would be lower cost (no bags to buy) and less labor to empty.

So I just got my shop vac second hand and it has no manual and no basic instructions were given either. Does it actually need a bag when using it? I feel like something may be broken or missing....

Shop cacs are multiple purpose dry/wet intake so typically you don't need a bag. You just open the tank and empty it like a big trash can. They will have a large filter In the tank that needs to be cleaned/replaced.

6.0 hp 12 Gallon Shop-Vac 'exploding'

Those type of vacuums are designed for light duty work around homes anyways. For commercial industrial work as you are doing you need a sump pump. We used to drop one in a 5 gallon (20 liter) pail, drill holes in the pail and suspend from a rope. (you can put screen around the pail covering the holes if needed too). Use a stiff hose to expell the water. You can change to a flat hose like a pool waste water hose or fire hose after the water is out of the trench.

Older model shop.vac parts/owners manuel

Hi, I know on my Craftsman shop vac 2 different sizes of vacs that I use, I try and stick to the craftsman filters, but you can use other brands if they are not available or you want to save some ( $ ) ? As far as a manual for this vac, more then likely you will have to go to the maker and distributor as Sears, O.C.Hardware also sell there products. You may have to go with a manual that is the same peak H.P.and gallons that covers all different makes and models. Filter wise, make sure you have the right ones on or off when using the wet or dry pick-up settings.
Sincerely,
Shastalaker7

Old shop vac

Hi,
Yes there should be a filter fitted onto the top section.

For suppliers, it would be cheapest to find your nearest stockist, or buy online and have it shipped. It's still current stock - so spares should be readily available.

Sears stock it -

Using shop vac 52722-90 for wet applications

yes, the foam filter is what you should use, also make sure you remove any bag, or paper filter, the water would make it fall apart.
