Question about Hoover F5906-900 Upright Steam Vacuum

1 Answer

Cleaning solution isn't coming out. What are dimensions of new tubing. Is this the best answer to my problem?

I have a F5906-900 steam vac. There is very limited solution coming out. I checked and the tubing has flat spots where it bends. I'm thinking I need new tubing?? Is there anyway to prevent this? And-- can you tell me the diameter of the tubing?

Just like it reads, the cleaning solution isn't coming out and the hoses have flat spots.

Ok, so I found my own solution! I took the machine apart enough to remove the white and black solution tubes. I bought a 5/16" wooden dowel and slipped it into the white tube to widen out the flattened places. Did the same to the black tube. I then bought 4 compression springs 11/16X 5/8 X .41 (3" long). I slipped the springs over the places on the tubes that get bent under the plastic retaining guard (I did not put this back on). I used electrical tape to hold the springs in place. At one point, on the motor side of the machine, I taped the two tubes together so they wouldn't crimp or move too much. I cut about 1" off the white tube, slid a spring over that end and then slipped the end back on the handle solution spout. I did the same with the black tube and put the machine back together. Works like a charm!!!

I could not dispense the cleaning solution from the nozzle and found kinked plastic hoses on mine also.

Take a sample of the plastic hose to an auto parts store or hardware store. About 6' of hose should be enough. Find something more pliable (rubber), but not too fat.

My Hoover steam vac dual v clean water and detergent tank leaks water before attached to the vac and during cleaning

This is a common problem with the earlier models which had a separate soap tank glued to the clean water tank. The plastic was too thin beneath the valve on the clean water side and would develop cracks. You most likely will need a new one piece tank. ( Part # 42272104)

Setting up for apolstery cleaning

Hoover Steam Vac F5853-900 Series 17.9

Remove the tank front panel by sliding it straight up. Replace panel with converter (located on end of hose, end is shaped like front panel that you slide out. Before connecting tube to cleaner, make sure black tabs are extended by pulling tan collar roward tube.Open door on hood labeled "Stair/Upholstery Cleaning Connection" Press round solution tube connector onto round projection inside door. Press connecator collar down firmly to ensure that it is fully connected.
When the solution tube is connected to the deep cleaner, the nozzle brushes will automatically be turned off and will not rotate when the deep cleaner is turned on even if the speed selector is in the HI oar LO position. For full suction, it is important that the recovery tank lid is properly secured before cleaning. The tank lid is replaced in a hinge-like manner. Position front of lid under tabs on front of tank. Rotate lid down onto tank. Make sure lid is secure on all sides before cleaning.Hope this helps.
Good Luck

HOOVER STEAN VAC 2 DEEP CLEANER

If you used any other cleaning solution other than Hoover, your Steam Cleaner will develop deposits in the turbine that drives the brushes. What happens is this:
Users pour other store bought brand cleaners in the reservoir to clean. Then they store the Hoover Steam Vac. While sitting in storage, the residue dries in the turbine and develops hard deposites, which ruins it. It will cost you about $100 to have the Hoover Store repair.
