Why does one earphone work fine on my walkie talkie but the other one you have to press the mic button on the wire and also have to push the talk on the walkie

It seems not to be the earphone. It is likely the audio jack you are plugging into. Type or brand would help. Generally, audio jacks are poorly installed. Or they are are on top of a radio, inviting dirt, debris and water into them. Tap the radio with the issue, audio jack down and see if anything falls out. Then, if possible and at your own risk, use some rubbing alcohol and try to clean it. This may require a very small tool and you may damage the jack beyond repair. Our shop takes radios apart to perform these tasks, plus we have some tiny tools. Even then, we often replace the actual audio jack. They fail.

Use a audiovox walkie talkie

What is your question about using the walkie talkie? These are standard FRS low power walkie talkies. You need to set both to the same channel. Turn both on. Push the transmit button and speak into the microphone which is on the face of the radio. You should hear the voice in the other walkie talkie.

Note; all of these FRS talkies have substantially less range than advertised. They should provide reliable service within about 1/4 mile line of sight, no more. In an urban environment with lots of buildings you will get less.

Uniden walkie talkie says L every time I push a button

You've set the keylock feature on your walkie talkie. From the Uniden manual...

KEYLOCK

ON/OFF Press and hold the call/lock key until the "L" appears. After 1 second, the LCD will return to the channel display. To exit Keylock on mode, press and hold call/lock again. Note: While in keylock on mode, it will still receive transmissions.

The power button on the talkabout is jammed into the on position so the walkie will not charge or turn on. How can we fix this or where can we get it fixed?

Please open the set with the help of screw driver , & check for functionality of switch , & remove any particle that is jamming PTT button . You can check the functionality of walkie talkie by pushing the PTT inner switch with the help of a screw driver.

T5900 Walkie Talkie Issue

Hello Bo Duke,

If one radio won't walk to the other my guess if that you have the Privacy Code function set up incorrectly.

The privacy code function mutes the radio unless it receives a signal from another radio transmitting the same privacy code. If Privacy Codes are turned on for Radio A but not turned on for Radio B then you will be able to transmit from Radio A to Radio B but not from Radio B to Radio A. If Privacy Codes are turned on for both radios but each unit is set to a different code then neither radio will be able to talk to the other.

Make sure that the radios are both set to the same privacy code or that the privacy code function is turned off on both radios. You can find more information on how this function is set in the radio's Owner's Manual.

Hope this helps!
