Question about Microsoft ARC Mouse
Scroll wheel not working on a Microsoft Bluetooth 5000 mouse. It barely rolls. Does anyone know how to "crack" it open so I can look inside. Maybe I can repair what seems to be an alignment problem.
If your scroll wheel turns but you don't feel the 'notches' it is most likely stripped. I've repaired my Logitech, and based on what I saw inside, I doubt that it's an alignment issue.
If it's stripped, and the hexagonal end of the wheel's axle that fits into the receptor has lost its hex shape, I have a perfect fix.
I tried gluing it, but that only lasted as long as the glue. What I did instead was remove the wheel, thread a thin rubber band through the receptor, pull the rubber band tight and then reinstall the wheel. Once tension on the rubber band was released, it expanded again, making a tight friction fit of the wheel's axle and the receptor.
Hope that helps.
