Wm 2487H. My machine is off balance and shake the house terribly bad. It also has a metalic scraping sound sometimes when the drum spins. I just purchased my LG washer and dryer a couple of months ago. I...

Starting in November 2008--LG introduced "square door" model washers.
These washers will (unlike round door models) perform very well on wood floors.
If the WM2487 washer is on a wood floor--even a tiled wood floor--it will be near impossible to get smooth spin performance.
Some homeowners have had success by adding two layers of 3/4 inch wood under the washer AND dryer.
The following steps were taken:
1) Remove washer & dryer
2) Cut & remove any floor covering (bare wood)
3) Locate floor joists with a stud-finder & mark locations at the edge of the flooring--allows finding the joist locations after 3/4 sheet is laid to floor.
4) Add wood glue to floor
5) Place 3/4 inch wood sheet to floor & drive screws thru wood into joists (as many scews as deemed necessary to fully & completely compress wood sheet to existing floor
6) Add wood glue to 1st wood sheet
7) Place 2nd 3/4 inch wood sheet on top of 1st wood layer and drive screws into floor joists.
8) Add molding if desired
9) Re-install washer & dryer and level.
10) Add one heavy towel into washer tub & close door ( this will mimick an off-center load)
11) Press power "on" button
12) Press "Spin Speed" button & select high speed spin option
13) Press "Start" button
14) When * 9 minutes remaining * is displayed--use the flat wrenchette that comes with every LG washer to "tweak" the adjustment of the front leveling legs. This will allow for "fine tuning" adjustment of the front leveling leg(s) to eliminate vibration / noise during the spin cycle. The rear leveling legs DO NOT need further adjustment.
NOTE: Those with pedestals--check the front leveling legs on the washer and on the pedestals (front only) during spin.

Kenmore 700 series top load washer problem

This machine has self adjusting legs in the rear. Tilt the machine forward and see if you can hear the spring loaded legs adjust in the back if not they may need some lubrication and some help. tap on legs with hammer gently and they will usually release. Front legs have screw adjustments and very important locking nut which 99 out of 100 installers wont use. Thank you

Spin cycle

Make sure the shipping pins have been removed. They're usually attached to yellow strap at the rear of the machine (sometimes people just cut off the strap so look underneath as well to make sure it has been removed). Looking at the inside, the washer drum should move freely from front to back and side to side.
Next is leveling. This is sometimes tricky in that it really has nothing to do putting a level on the machine unless your floor is uneven and adjustments need to be made to the front legs. As long as it looks fairly straight to the eye, level the machine by opening the lid, putting your foot in front of machine and holding the inside of the cabinet. Tilt the machine toward you and lift the rear of the machine about 2-3 inches (you should hear the legs drop). Set it back down. It should now be leveled since the rear legs are self leveling. Try rocking the machine from the top in a diagonal motion and ensure the weight is evenly distributed on all 4 legs.
If these things have been checked and it's still "walking" make sure the load inside the washer is not off balance.
Good luck!

GE front loader shakes when trying to spin

try putting either a piece of plywood under the machine so that all 4 legs are standing on it or using plastic floor protectors that fit under each leg to see if you can get it to be more level. Have you ensured that each leg is in full contact with the floor?

Try using plastic shims from any Major hardware outlet, and place on the right side until even. Make sure the shims, or even a block of wood the space you need to level the unit. Try screwing the back right leg out as far as you can and screw the left back leg in to shorten it, if you have that feature.

due to weight and normal motion during wash/spin a very sturdy floor is necessary under front loads also some floors are a little slick and sliding may occur ck for weak floor and maybe some kind ok rough cushion under feet to reduce sliding also if on pedistals even more vibration may occur be sure all screws in pedistal are secure usually 4 from top onto bottom of washer also adj legs to lower unit as close to floor as possible and tighten lock nuts

Leveling a washer tub how to do so

first get a level. second, some have self leveling rear legs, just lean the machine forward and set down slowly. the rear legs are now level. if you dont have self leveling rear legs, the legs screw in, so just screw them in or out as well as the front legs untl it appears level by eye. now place the level on the washer. check it front to back and side to side. try rocking the machine to see if there is any movement. if there is adjust the legso it stops rocking, all the while keeping an eye on the level

Unbalance

You problem may a simple leveling issue. Check your machine front to back and side to side to ensure it properly level. Also, most top-loaders have "self-leveling" feet on the rear legs. If you walk up to your washer and it looks like the back is sitting lower than the front, you may only have to follow a few simple steps to re-level it. If your machine is equipped with this type of leveling system all you have to do is to lift the rear legs of the floor about two-inches by rocking the machine (empty of water, of course) towards you: 1. Lift the lid. 2. Place one hand under the rim of the front casing (not the wash tub). 3. Place your foot at the center of the front base to keep it from sliding. 4. Pull towards you to lift the back feet off the floor. 5. You should hear clicking noises as the feet re-level. 6. Slowly lower machine back to the floor. This should take care of most leveling problems that cause your machine to vibrate and shake during the spin cycle. These legs periodically become unlevel due to vibration and need to checked from time to time. I hope this may help you.
