SOURCE: I connect Ipod to computer it will not sync

Try resetting the iPod, this usually works.

As follows:

How to reset iPod To reset an iPod with a Click Wheel, including:iPod nano (3rd generation) iPod classic iPod (5th generation) iPod nano (2nd generation)iPod nano iPod with color display (iPod photo) iPod (Click Wheel) iPod mini iPod mini (2nd generation)

Toggle the Hold switch on and off. (Slide it to Hold, then turn it off again.)Press and hold the Menu and Center (Select) buttons simultaneously until the Apple logo appears, about 6 to 8 seconds.

You may need to repeat this step. Tip: If you are having difficulty resetting your iPod, set it on a flat surface. Make sure the finger pressing the Select button is not touching any part of the click wheel. Also make sure that you are pressing the Menu button toward the outside of the click wheel, and not near the center.

If the above steps did not work, try connecting iPod to a power adapter and plug the power adapter into an electrical outlet, or connect iPod to your computer. Make sure the computer is turned on and isn't set to go to sleep.

To reset iPod, iPod (scroll wheel), iPod (touch wheel), and iPod (dock connector)Toggle the Hold switch on and off. (Slide it to Hold, then turn it off again.)Press and hold the Play/Pause and Menu buttons simultaneously until the Apple/iPod logo appears, about 6 to 8 seconds. You may need to repeat this step.

If the above steps did not work, try connecting iPod to a power adapter and plug the power adapter into an electrical outlet, or connect iPod to your computer. Make sure the computer is turned on and isn't set to go to sleep.

If you are still unable to reset your iPod, use only one finger from one hand to press the Center (Select) button, and one finger from the other hand to press the Menu button. When you reset iPod all your music and files are saved, but some customized settings may be lost. Date and time is preserved (unless the iPod reset itself because it had no power and then was reconnected to power). Other customized settings, such as Bookmarks, On-The-Go Playlists, Shuffle, Backlight timer, and so forth are preserved from the last time the hard drive turned on.

SOURCE: does not charge

What you may have is a low-speed USB port, when the iPod is designed to run on a hi-speed USB port All Mac computers have this and most Windows years 2005 and up have it as well. Another thing that may have happened is when you plugged in the cord, or unplugged it, you may have accidentally broke off some of the metal inside the iPod that connects to the cord Try looking at that as well. Hope this helps!!!!

The problem is, i want to put music from my laptop onto my apple ipod 4GB a1051, how do i do that please?

The following information has come directly from the apple support web site.

Adding Content Automatically or Manually
There are two ways to add content to iPod nano: ? Automatic syncing: When you connect iPod nano to your computer, iPod nano is automatically updated to match the items in your iTunes library. You can sync all your songs, playlists, videos, and podcasts, or, if your entire iTunes library doesn’t fit on iPod nano, you can sync only selected items. You can sync iPod nano automatically with only one computer at a time. ? Manually managing iPod nano: When you connect iPod nano, you can drag items individually to iPod nano and delete them individually from iPod nano. You can add songs from more than one computer without erasing songs from iPod nano. When you manage music yourself, you must always eject iPod nano from iTunes before you disconnect it.

The following URL will bring you to the iPod Nano manual. For more information on setting up you iPod see chapter 2: Setting up iPod Nano

http://manuals.info.apple.com/en_US/iPod_nano_5th_gen_UserGuide.pdf

I hope that information above has helped is some way.
If possible please rate this solution.

I cannot install music from my computor to my Ipod 4 nano

If you can't connect iPod nano to your computer , make sure;
  • you have installed the latest iTunes software from www.apple.com/ipod/start.
  • Try connecting to a different USB port on your computer. Note: A USB 2.0 port is recommended to connect iPod nano. USB 1.1 is significantly slower than USB 2.0. If you have a Windows PC that doesn’t have a USB 2.0 port, in some cases you can purchase and install a USB 2.0 card. For more information, go to www.apple.com/ipod.
  • iPod nano might need to be reset (see page 64).
  • If you’re connecting iPod nano to a portable or laptop computer using the iPod Dock Connector to USB 2.0 Cable, connect the computer to a power outlet before connecting iPod nano.
  • Make sure you have the required computer and software. See “If you want to double check the system requirements” on page 68.
  • Check the cable connections. Unplug the cable at both ends and make sure no foreign objects are in the USB ports. Then plug the cable back in securely. Make sure the connectors on the cables are oriented correctly. They can be inserted only one way.
  • Try restarting your computer.

Ipod Nano Sync

When you plugged the IPod into the new or cleaned computer, it was like plugging the iPod into a brand new computer with different specs. The formatting options may have changed, and when the iPod tried to adjust for this format difference, the DB or file system could have become corrupted. forutnately, Apple has ways to correct this problem.

To help you, I will need to know what OS you have? Windows XP? Windows Vista?

Of course, this is only one of many possibilities. I would start simple - do the 5 "R's" that Apple suggest in the manual:
Remember these five basic suggestions if you have a problem with your iPod nano. If
one of the following doesn’t help, read on for solutions to specific problems.
â Reset your iPod nano. See “General Suggestions,” below.
â Retry with a different USB port if you cannot see iPod nano in iTunes.
â Restart your computer and make sure you have the latest software updates
installed.
â Reinstall iPod and iTunes software from the latest versions on the web.
â Restore your iPod nano. See “Updating and Restoring iPod Software” on page 50.
After doing this, try to resync thos songs.

Good luck - let me know if you need more help!

Blank ipod

Try plugging in to computer first, to see if that will revive it. If not, then use the recovery mode instructions in your manual. The manual is available at Apple's website if you lost it.
