The powerbrush will not lower. As a result, the front plate drags the floor.

One of the responses mentioned the Bissell Spotlifter., being something of an expert on steam cleaning lately. As a tool, it has a very narrow opening...allegedly you have to sprary the solution out the front, and then hold the machine at a 45 degree angle to get the suction going. It's very difficult to tell if you're getting the fluid back off the carpet at that point in time, so you're left to ponder whether the stain is going up. Unfortunately, touching the area on the floor covered in whatever substance you don't want to go near, seems to be the way to evaluate if it's working. You also need to apply substantial pressure to feel as if it's working.
Add to this, the fact that carpet fibers tend to get in it, and gunk up the works. To be fair, it's really easy to pull the brush section out, but your fingers must then untangle the fibers, which are, again, covered in something disgusting you don't want on you.
The one spot where the Bissell is really helpful, is the sides of stairs. You can actually steam clean a vertical surface, which is close to impossible with any of the full size power steamers.

Bissell power steamer brushes will not turn

Hello, this is Ava with Think Crucial.

There are a number of reasons why your brush roller is not turning. General maintenance to your vacuum is crucial and will help it work at peak performance.

First things first lets focus on the brush roller. Unplug the vacuum and turn it on its side. Look for any noticeable clumps of debris or hair strands that may be caught in the brush roller. Remove these obstructions, probably best to do so with a scissor if it's hair or long pieces of carpet fibers. After removing the debris try manually rotating the brush roller to uncover other hidden clogs. Another thing to take note of is the condition of the bristles on the roll itself. Are they loose or worn down? These are signs that your brush roller is in need of replacing.

While checking out your brush roll you might as well take a look at your vacuums belt. Your belt should be replaced about every three months. After regular usage, the belt will stretch out, lessening the tension on the brush roller. Lesser tension diminishes the brush roller's turn rate and speed. If the belt feels loose then it certainly is affecting your vacuums suction as well as your brush roll not moving at all.

HOW DO i FIX bISSELL pROHEAT BELT

Hi, it's Cindy from Crucial Vacuum.

Your Bissell 9200 Proheat 2x vacuum's brushroll is connected to the motor by two different sized geared belts. Over time, the belt's gears wear down and stretch out losing the grooves and tension that turn the roller. Another cause could be there is debris stuck on the roller and/or bearings. To gain access to your belts, follow the steps listed below:

1. Step on the release pedal and recline the handle down.
2. Remove the Tank-In-Tank and SmartMix Tank.
3. Using a flat head screwdriver to gently pry the access door, remove belt access door located near the floor cleaning switch nearest to the handle.
4. On the bottom of the machine, use a Phillips head screwdriver to remove the red retainer plate.
5. Remove the black brush arm holding the brush in place.
6. Locate and adjust the two belts.

The brush bar will not spin. The belts melt when I turn it on and the belt drive is hot to touch with smoke coming out.

The belt is rubbing the foot plate.Check to see if the foot plate is damaged.Allso check the bearings in the brush bar are free and spin without the belt on.If you cant spin the brush bar by hand with the belt not attached then your bearings are seized.Get a new brush bar

Bissell Momentum roller brush doesn't roll w/ pressure

This is going to sound funny, but check the wheels. Sounds like the pin or shaft that holds them is broke. Also check the tension on your belt. If the tension is to loose then the brush will have a hard time spinning.Good luck
