No video output from Magnavox VCR (MDV560VR)

All of a sudden I can't get the video signal from the VCR side of my Magnavox MDV560VR. This is a combination DVD/CD/VCR. I have it plugged into the A/V tuner which in turn is plugged into the TV. For all these years with the analog TV, the Magnavox worked just fine. But things changed when I went to HDTV. Now I can get only the DVD signal out of the Magnavox. I can't get it to switch over to the video signal from the VCR. I have had the Magnavox plugged into the A/V tuner with both the single-line DVD/VCR Out cable as well as an S-video cable. As I say, that worked well with the analog TV. There was a three-week period during the changeover from analog to digital TV when I didn't use the Magnavox at all. Last night I tried again and couldn't see the VCR signal on the TV. I then added component-video cables from the Magnavox to the A/V tuner (which is similarly connected to the HDTV by component cables.) With progressive-scan, the DVD picture is impressive, but there's nothing from the VCR. In the old days I had the TV antenna plugged into both the Magnavox and the DTV convertor. Now that the HDTV is here, I have plugged the DTV box into the Magnavox, and I will use the DTV as my tuner for the Magnavox from here on. I know it's working, because I can hear the audio portion of the television programming through the stereo. Did my Magnavox VCR fail during the three weeks I didn't use it? Or am I missing some software set-up trick? TIA

- Update: I solved the video problem by adding a composite-video cable between the A/V tuner and the HDTV. It seems that the component-video cable transmits only the output from the DVD side of the unit. But now the audio output from the VCR has stopped. I've had to pull out my ancient Toshiba VCR for that capability. Is anyone else having problems with the audio output from the VCR side of this Magnavox?

You need to tune a chanel on your tv to the vcr signal, using an RF cable (aerial cable between vcr and tv). That is if your tv has an analogue tuner.
