My navman trackfish 6600 gps is aquireing and will not give a gps fix ,I have also had the screen ghosting when I enlarge the area with no detail, the unit is 4 years old .

I had a similar problem and the GPS was showing 100km north from where I was (previous history). I pressed the Man Overboard (MOB) button and it then locked on my location and has been fine since.

Continual "waiting for gps " message
the message should also read no mnsa data first... if these units are not in continual use,they get corrupt for some reason. all you can do is hope the gps fix will work itself out,otherwisw buy a new unit.
