Question about Philips Audio Players & Recorders

1 Answer

My Philips FW-P750/22 Mini stereo system keeps randomly shutting down, changing to stereo from DPL, muting, showing all sorts of LCD screen items it doesn't even have and generally acting like it's possessed. I have taken it apart to fix the "Check tape" warning and dusted it out at the same time but it still does random stuff. Is it on it's way out or can I fix it with a little circuit board repairs?

Thanks for the quick reply. I checked all things when I completely stripped it down so I don't think it's as simple as that. I have never left it in the sun or exposed it to extreme heat/cold/humidity and I've never got it wet. I just wondered if anyone knew the fault on the board maybe a resistor or ICU that I could replace myself. I'm a competent solderer but I don't know what Ohm/Volt readings I should get from the various components on the boards and certainly not the ICU's. I don't want to take it to the repair center and have them tell me it's not worth fixing and to take a look at the newest models on their shelves.

Not much you can do it sounds to me like a faulty power input-- (if you move it do you hear something rattling if you do it is probably a screw from the circuit board if you open it up and screw the screw in again that will fix your shutting on and off problem) but that is very unlikely---- have you looked at the condition the wires inside are in, and did the power ever go off with it plugged in or it on of be exposed to water extream heat (example leaving it in the sun) or cold because all these things WILL ruin beyond fixing , and dose the screen say "protect" before it shuts off because this is a programing error i think your best shot is taking it back or calling the company

Philips 42PF9630A

Go to philips website and download the latest firmware and install via usb. The fw corrects random power on and offs. If that doesnt fix your problem, the tv is going into error protection mode do to a voltage problem detected by the power supply.

That will be hard to diagnose as everything will test ok as it works before shutting off. The best way is to run the set and use a temp gun to find out whats overheating and go from there.

Shelf system shuts after a few minutes philips FW-R7

In power supply check capacitors ,one of them is leake or dry.Best way of detecting this cap is to have freez it (coolant) to sprey on the sections in power supply and thanindividual capacitors this will definately solve your problem.
