my best advise for you is to replace the motherboard, if i say that you should repair it, it might work and another problem may rise again in which you may be running about for another solution, it may lead you to spend alot of money so instead of that replace the motherboard for you to enjoy your system very well.
The complete solution to this fault (Acer 5535 keeps crashing under vista) is to use Windows XP instead of Vista. Set up a Dual Boot so you can CHOOSE to load XP or Vista each time you turn on the laptop. I've put XP on my 5535 and it's SO much faster and seems perfectly stable now - no crashing at all.

Once you've done this you won't have any problems with the laptop anymore. This is a perfect solution to the crashing problem!
