The AD1981B is also known as the "SoundMAX" or "AC'97" audio chip.

If you check on Toshiba's website, find your laptop's model, and download the right "SoundMAX" drivers for your model and operating system, this will resolve the issue.

Drivers are very difficult to come by for that sound device. Do you have any more detailed information.

You should have checked the lenovo support page for windows 7 compatability first.
it says your model only supports vista, and those drivers are built into the OS.
You may be able to download a driver from the chipset maker.
Your sound chip is the AD1981B , i did not have any luck finding a driver for it

Go to the chipset manufacturer and see if they have an updated driver for the sound card. It will come up as an unsuported driver but sometimes they are quicker to get updates than the manufacturer of the sound card.

Sometimes Intel boards are a bit "stubborn" in accepting sound drivers sometimes, so you might have to manually install the driver by way of the device manager. Hopefully the latter will not happen. if it does, feel free to contact me here on "FixYa" and I'll do my best to guide you through it.
