Hi my friend: please help me for select HDD. 945GCM-S2L Max HDD Support? 945GCM-S2L <- this mainboard supported 2TR Byte?

This motherboard suports SATA (Serial ATA 3Gbps) meaning that it is compatible with any SATA hard drive. A 2TB (Tera Byte) hard drive is the highest capacity available on the market. This motherboard has 4 SATA connections so you can put up to 4 SATA hard drives into it.

I have a 1TB LaCie 2Big Quadra. It has 2 500GB and runs on RAID 1. I replaced both 500 GB LaCie drives with 1.5 TB LaCie drives, but my computer only recognizes the original 500 GB. I formatted both...

I have the same problem too on my 2big form lacie . If I use 2x 1,5 tera disk in "fast mode" or in "big mode" my disk manager only shows 746 gigs available (it should be at least 2,5 terra).
If I use "safe mode" so my system can see 1,3 tera available, wich is normal for a raid mirror configuration.
I hope to find a solution quickly.

I have the WD tera byte hard drive and I plugged it in after many months and it will not show that it is working?? Also, a lock is showing up above the one bright light on the hard drive...any advice?

It could be a few things, some of them caused by hardware (the gear and computer and this "my book" backup device) and some by the software you are accessing it (the Operating System, etc).

What makes it tricky is that you probably have data on this you don't want to loose. It might be too late for that, without serious trouble shooting, so the order of the steps we use to troubleshoot and fix it could be important.

I'll need to know your
1) OS (widows XP? Vista? Ubuntu???)
2) What you did when you plugged it in as well as
3) what happened last time you shut it off/unplugged it
4) what you're currently doing or have tried.
5) how precious the data is on the "My book"
6) and do you have access to another computer?
7) did you change anything on the "My book"?

If the system is on, don't turn it off or unplug it yet.

Will Asus p5ld2-vm SE MOTHERBOARD support 1 tera-byte hard disk? i hav 2gb ram

Yes it should. The issue is not so much with the motherboard supporting the hard drive. It is more the question of whether or not the power supply will support the power required to run it along with all of the other additions.

Wd my book device usb device not recognized by computer

Hi, Take the drive to a pc store and ask the techs to move the HDD into a new shell and test it for you. Most likely it's ok and you can just buy a new shell/enclosure for it. If that doesn't work it may need the help of a recovery pro. If that's the case comment back here with your country/state/city and I'll pass on a recommendation for a nearby facility that can assist you in retrieving the files. Chris

I bought 2 gb transcend pen drive yesterday. When opened n checked it shows 1.88 gb available memory. Why less than 2 gb? is my question.

this is because of the why bits and bytes are stored. 1 gigabyte is 1,073,741,824 bytes in reality. so 1.88Gb 2,018,634,629 bytes whcih for advertising purposes is 2 gigabytes. So you will generally always see this disparity because computers read bytes where 1 kb = 1024 bytes, and advertisers use 1kb = 1000 bytes. But don't worry you really did get 2 billion bytes it's just a little marketing sleight of hand :)

1GB is 1000MB

Starting from scrap:

1 bit = 0/1 value, this is the real unity

1 Byte = 8 bits (eg : 010110100101 )

1KB=1000 Bytes

1TB=1000GB (TB is tera byte).
