Question about HP Pavilion DV6500T Notebook

HP Pavilion DV6500 - The fan makes too much noise!

I bought the laptop in september/october 2007, and now, in the last few months, the fan has began to make a loud noise.

When this happened on my old laptop, I opened it up and cleaned the fan. The problem now is that I don't know how to open it up on this PC!

Why is the fan working? And how do I open up so I can clean the fan?

HP deliberately design their laptops to breakdown just after the warranty ... my HP-authorized repair shop told me that there is no way to clean everywhere inside the unit, without complex, nearly complete dismantling.

But I bought another Pavilion!  But I learnt by smashing apart my first Pavvy.  There is only one cooling fan.

Remove the battery.  Put a narrow plastic stick thru the intake slot, to stop the fan spinning.  Then use a hair dryer, without heat, to push air into every air hole you can find.  Repeat with a low-power vacuum cleaner.

After 4 years, sell it, smash it or get rid of it.

If at all possible " do not try and clean the fan yourself " you will kill the m/board - take it to an auth Hp serice agent and get a new CPU heatsink assy & fan unit fitted. I work on Hp units all the time and I am always very carefull of the electrostatic conditions. Try and do it yourself and it will prove expensive. If you have warranty log a service call for a replacement heatsink

Newer HP Pavilion dv6000 turned off while in use and wont turn on

1.Start your computer and see if your hear your fan noise, and cannot see anything on screen then there is problem with your power supply.

2.If you cannot hear your fan noise, and do not see anything on screen, then there is problem with your motherboard

3.if you hear fan noise and can see something on screen, then it is the issue with your hard disk (very less cases)

Mostly it would be the 2nd case that you will have to get your motherboard replaced

Fan noise after a few minutes running.

Fans are typically a little noisey. If it's exceptionally loud or continues for a long time it may indicate the fan is no providing the proper cooling. Purchase a laptop cooling pad to place under the laptop while your useing it and make sure nothing is interfering with the airflow around the unit.

I bought HP Pavilion dv5 6 months ago and fan not working

Your cooling fan sounds to have went out, causing it to overheat and shut down.It also could be something in the fan stopping it from turning.Try cleaning it or blowing it out with it off.But it mostly sounds to have went out.

Strong noise notebook, CPU gets hot 75-80C

The fan may be faulty, it may have stopped or spinning slow.
Check the fan and clean dust/lint off the fan blades and heatsink fins. Spin the fan blades with your finger to see if it spins freely.
If necessary replace the fan.

Need polarity of adapter plug for HP Pavilion DV6500

The cables for these are fairly specific, but if you have a cbale that has the same plugs and fits both the transformer side and the computer side, you cna use that as a replacement. The cord itself has no polarity.
