Your mic should me on automatically once you have an application the needs its use eg: sykye, and VoIP applications, else you can check to see if your internal mic is set as your default recording device and the level of the volume. You can do this in Control Panel > Sounds > Recording

Does my v6000 have a mic?

lol. no im sorry. I'm tell you that there is no built in mic unless there is a built in cam. if you have a built in cam try recording a video with sound. talk laugh play music. Then play it back. Also you can click Start then All Programs then click Accessories.
Now click Entertainment then Voice Recorder. Test to see if it plays you voice back. Sorry for the misunderstanding. Happy Holidays!

Recheck default sound card settings in the Record setting. The device needs to show up. Make sure volume is up high enough.

We cant record a video clip with sound - only picture

You need to go into the recorder options ant tell it the sound source to us is the USB Mic. on the webcam, or what ever the source of the Mic. is. There are several sources in Skype that allow changes to be made. Use the drop down menu for the selection and select the one you are using for the mic. Good Luck, RAC

When boss dictates a letter I can barely hear any sound!

The tape might be getting old, replace it and see what happens.  If it is still acting up, It might be he is not recording properly or the recorder is bad.  Try talking directly into the mic and see if it is better.  If it is, he needs to talk louder or needs to hold it close.

Problems recording with Sony Acid mucic studio 7!

This probably has to do with the levels you have set for the sound card - take a look at your mix levels AND the volume input level 0 this is not the same control as output

Sound

Hello Jassimin:

First you have to isolate the problem, you need to check if it's a problem with your hardware of your computer or if it's a problem withn your software.

First try using Microsoft Sound Recorder (usually it's located at Start -> Accessories -> Multimedia -> sound recorder.

Try recording anything using that, If you can do it; then probably it will a problem with your software MSN, try re-isntalling it.

If you cannot record anything, of if you get a message that there's no recording device; then it's something related with the microphone or the driver for the mic....In case you need the driver, please let us know the model number of your laptop (usually it's a the bottom ....

good luck

Internal MIC not working

If you are using xp, try going to the control panel, sound and audio devices, click on audio tab.
to check the mic settings, click on the volume tab under the sound recording sections. Make sure that the mic is selected and the volume turned up. It may be working only to record, not to hearback without recording...so you may have to actually be recording or talking to someone to know if its workings.
To check the sound, check to see if your audio device is selected under "sound playback" section...and make sure that all channels are unmuted and turned up. you may also have to check the volume control on the laptop (actual buttons on the pc) if there are any, and make sure that the volume is up and unmuted there also.
Hope this helps.

A computer has line out and that means sound out from the computer to your speakers. A line out can also be connected to a recording device or a pair of speakers with an amp built in. Line in on a computer can be used to record audio from other equipment such as a Dj on his decks to record his set. It can also record audio from mp3 players etc. Line in can be used for mic's and also you can use mic in as well. To record any audio onto your computer use line in. Line out can also used for headphones and the mic will plug into mic in so you can talk online.
