As this DVD was from Overseas it is now unlocked on my DVD player so thank you for that ... the next part of the problem is
Because I am a student and I need to take a copy for personal study as my friend and I are sharing the DVD... before I Unlocked the DVD player I had tried to copy the DVD using Mac the Ripper - I have a MacBook Pro and I it was unplayable on my DVD player.
I am trying it again now that the DVD is unlocked ... will that change how it is copied on my Laptop?

Unlocking the DVD was the first part of the problem and copying it was the second part of the problem.
With your assistance I have unlocked the DVD player so I can use the DVD. I can actually play this US DVD on the MacBook Pro ... so is there any reason it will not copy on the laptop and play on my DVD player/recorder.
If you need to pass the second part of my problem onto another expert who knows DVDs and Mac computers you are most welcome to do so ... but you might be able to answer the second part of my problem.
Thank you that we are working through the problem. Cheers
    Rita

Could you take me through the steps on how to make the DVD2OneX ... please
I did open Disk Utility and I Clicked on the DVD in the left hand side ... In Disk Utility there is
First Aid, Erase and Pertition and when I click on any of these – I get no joy.

Sir,
U can't unlock by yourself, bec. need some help with technician. There is single chip which can be inserted in dvd it will unlock and play all the dvd. It can be done by only manufacturer which can more cost. So better to go with local electronics shop and ask for chip to unlock dvd player. Or if you want to do yourself, check this link buy it for 1$
Thanks Good Luck

Hi,

go to setup (press on the remote)
move down to highlight the padlock logo (4th down)
dont move across to sub menu just press the 0 seven times and it will appear that you are now using region free.

Once, done it would be region free. You can use it anywhere.

DVD region codes are a digital-rights management technique designed to allow film distributors to control aspects of a release, including content, release date, and price, according to the region.DVD video discs may be encoded with a region code restricting the area of the world in which they can be played.

The American DVD Copy Control Association in California requires that DVD-player manufacturers incorporate the regional-playback control (RPC) system - according to the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission, an Australian government agency.[1]

There are six different official regions and two informal variations.[citation needed] DVDs may use one code, a combination of codes (Multi-Region), most codes (Region 0) or every code/no codes (Region All). The commercial DVD player specification requires that a player to be sold in a given place not play discs encoded for a different region; however, region-free DVD players are also commercially available.[2] In addition, many DVD players can be modified to be region-free, allowing playback of all discs.[3]

Ive contacted Sony and they wont give an unlock code for the rdr dc 100, yet the store will sell stating multi regional. I have region 1 dvds to play! Have some heart Sony give us the deal you've taken our...

Then you have a case, if a store claims that, they are responsible for making it right by fixing the problem or refunding the original amount you paid for it. The only loop hole in this is, they may say it will play in the region you live according to the requirements of that part of the world. But it should be stated that it set to region 1 only.

Apparently they are locked to region 4 and I have bought region 1 DVDs so they won't play

In most models the unit cannot converted to multi-regions.So it will play only in the specified region in which it is applicable to.But in some unit models there is a procedure to turn the unit to multi region so it can play all region dvd.On all models the procedure to convert the unit to multi region is different. As you have not mentioned the exact model number of your unit.t will not be easy to give exact details. If in case there is a procedure to convert your unit to multi region.

Thanks. keep updated for any more query.you can rate this solution and show your appreciation.

Wrong Regional Disc.

DVDs are ecoded with region codes to indicate what area of the world they are made for. These codes may be 1,2,3, etc depending on which region they are made for.
DVD player read these codes and if the disc region code does not match the region the device is made for, the player will not play the disc.
Region 1 is for USA so most DVDp players made for use in USA require region 1 discs.
Some DVD players called multi region DVD players can be set to play different region DVDs but they are typically more expr=ensive then one region players and the code must be changed each time a different region disc is played.
