How do I check power fault when plug and fuse are okay

you have to have a meter or a plug in test .If an electrical appliance stops working then the first thing you can check is whether the fuse has blown in the plug.
Unplug the item and carefully unscrew the back of the plug using a screwdriver.
You will see three different coloured wires coming into the plug and the fuse. You simply need
to unscrew the screw holding in the fuse and take it out and replace it with a new one. Ensure you replace it with the same type of fuse that was there. Eg, replace a 3A with a 3A.
Srcew the fuse back in, ensuring the wires are all secured in the correct position and screw the back onto the plug.
If it was the fuse that has blown then when you plug the appliance in, it should now work. If there is still a problem, then there may be a more serious problem and the item may need to be returned to the manufacturer or repaired.
  • The live wire is Brown
  • The Neutral wire is Blue
  • The Earth wire is Green and Yellow stripes

In a plug the fuse is there for protection. It contains a piece of wire that melts easily. If the current though a fuse is too large then the wire will melt and break the circuit. Fuses come in standard ratings, 3A, 5A and 13A and the fuse used should be a higher current than needed for the appliance. So a 10A device would have a 13A fuse.

My potterton 60 e has stopped working after rain has got onto the boiler

That's a shame. As the combustion area is room sealed none of the water should have gone in there. Most likely the water will have short circuited connections at the base of the boiler, and blown the 3A fuse for the entire heating system.
So, do you have any signs of life on the programmer/timer? Does it light up, tick, or have any lights (lit) on it? If not then find and CHECK the 3A mains fuse....and I can't tell you where that is, but usually it's in the airing cupboard, by the timer, or near the boiler.
If that fuse is OK then you will need to hire a gas fitter with electrical/fault finding experience to look closer.

Peavey tnt 115 blowing fuses

your either overloading something cause that's what pops fuses. My guess is that what your plugging in or into has a ground issue. I'm wondering if it does it with nothing plugged in at all. I would say if you have nothing in and it does it, you need to find where the ground issue is. that's my best guess

Main 30 amp fuse keeps blowing when i plug the 4 wire fuse top back on after replacing 30 amp fuse. any suggestions

Hi, Anonymous before diagnosing your blown fuse issue, check the bottom of your seat, if it's metal and comes in close proximity to the positive battery post you need to take the necessary steps to ensure there is no contact (electrical tape, thick rubber insulation, hammer a dent in the seat bottom etc.) You are going to need a wiring diagram from your service manual, a test light, an ohmmeter and plenty of extra fuses.
If you turn on your ignition switch and immediately blow a fuse you have a hard/dead short and is usually easy to find. With a test light connected to the hot side of the blown fuse holder start stabbing the wire/s that leads away from the fuse holder and towards the ignition switch, you test light will illuminate validating the short. When the test light fails to illuminate you have passed the short and need to back up until the test light illuminates, then look in the immediate area for the short.
If you driving down the road for 30 minutes or 15 miles and blow a fuse you have soft/flying short and may take some time and patience to find.
If the main fuse/circuit breaker constantly blows/trips while riding you probably have a faulty battery terminal connection. Check battery terminals for damage or corrosion, check battery cables at "BOTH" ends for loose, corroded, or broken connectors, "INSIDE" and outside the cable harness, perform connector wiggle test and check cables with an ohmmeter if necessary. Any other fuses that constantly keep blowing while riding are usually caused by a loose or corroded ground wire in the circuit, which means you have to check, inspect, test each and everyone with an ohm meter set on a low ohm scale 100 ohms or less . Simply touch one lead to the ground source and the other lead to the battery negative terminal, a reading of zero indicates a clean solid ground. Any number reading or infinity indicates a poor ground and needs to be repaired. Poor or weak grounds require excessive additional amperage to complete the circuit which in turn blows the small amperage fuse.

If the main amp section does not have it's own fuses, then the fuse might have blown, because the amp has gone. However I think it is highly likely that you have taken out the main amp, especially if it is a single IC that does all the work. You should try and determine if the amp section is getting power before replacing it.

Fuse for 21" need how much Amp

Is this just the mains plug fuse - have a look on the back of the set it should give you the wattage
  • Average plasma: 338 watts
  • Average LCD: 176 watts
So, if you are in the UK on the 240V supply - then a 3A or 5A fuse will do
if not then what country are you IN, mains supply's vary around the world and a lower voltage for example a 110V supply on the Plasma will use more Ampage and need a 5A fuse

Line 6 Spyder 112 got plugged into 220v now just smokes.

The power supply is bad. The transformer more than likely survived however some fuses and possibly filter caps could have been blown. Also some of the regulatory circuitry for switching or digital lines could have been damaged. This being said you should be able to get the amp working again without any problems.

Red light flashing, no picture/sound!!!!

HI, this unit has 3 main fuse links on the main board that may be blown. the fuse links should be check before you move further into the diagnosis stage. once you have checked the fuses and they are still in a working state, this will confirm a power supply board failure. this board provides and regulates the current flow and distribution of it throughout the entire unit. If the fuses are fine and the power supply board is damaged, the green light will come on briefly then, the main control will notice that the power supply is not functioning properly. Once the main control board senses an abnormal current, it will shut down the TV rendering the red light warning. The list of fuses to check are below. Remember, if they are fine and working, the issue will be the power supply board itself and, it will need to be replaced.
